My body acts first. I race the corner. Natalie flinches once she sees me. I grab her phone and destroy it.

I toss it on the floor then push her against the wall.

“Who the fuck are you? Who were you talking to?” I yell in her face.

She tries to push me off but I plant my feet firmly. I shove her each time she tries to stand back up. It takes every nerve of my body to not beat her ass up to tell me.

“I said who the fuck you were talking to! Answer me!”

Natalie keeps quiet. She narrows her eyes at me, as if I’m doing something wrong. I don’t want to show her that I’m panicking inside. Someone out there knows where we are.

“I’m not playing around with you. Tell me!”

Mace and Jax come running towards us, both with ruffled up clothes. Mace grabs my arm and starts pulling me away. I shove him off. Jax tries to put himself between us.

“What the hell is going on?” he asks

I glare down at Natalie. “You’re not gonna tell him?”

The same response as before. Jax turns to me with a frown for daring to scream at his bedmate. Mace pulls me away with more force. My glare doesn’t leave Natalie.

I look down at the shattered phone. It’s still somehow on. The caller’s phone is frozen on the screen, showing that it’s still on call.

The last phone number looks almost identical to my father’s. The first three numbers of the caller are blurred out with the shattered screen. I pick it up to see better.

The number on the screen is 928-555-0117.

My hand grips the phone. “You called my father?”

MACE

Iwant to kill her. I’m on the edge of shifting into my wolf form and just shred her to pieces. But I can’t, I have to restrain myself. We need information and not another trail of bodies.

I control my breathing so I can calm down a bit. I’m still holding on to Mckenna’s arm but she’s equally furious. My tight hold on her doesn’t face her in the slightest. I still release her because I don’t want to leave a bruise or maybe even break it.

Jax looks absolutely heartbroken. He can’t bear to even face Natalie. I knew he had stronger feelings towards her than just a ‘friend with benefits.’

We wait for her to answer. At least explain herself. Anything but the fucking silent treatment.

Her eyes glance from us towards then behind us.

“What is it? Spit it out,” Mckenna says.

Natalie points to the wall while out of view of what she’s pointing to.

She mouths. “Don’t look. There’s a camera.”

We all tense up once we read her lips. Mckenna hasn’t backed away from Natalie. The latter’s revelation doesn’t impress her the slightest.

Natalie clears her throat. “Mckenna, I don’t even know your father. How about we go on a walk and talk about this, okay?”

She says it in a loud voice. As if she purposely wants someone to hear. The three of us exchange troubled looks. Then, Natalie nods subtly towards the door, motioning us to follow her.

She walks off first, followed by Mckenna, then Jax and I. I glance behind by a centimeter, to look for a camera. The walls are bare any type of technology, even a television.

Once we’re outside, Mckenna walks up to Natalie.
