Page 78 of Seduction in Spades

Last night was perfect, laughing with her and my parents as we played crazy eights. I had no idea Avery was a card shark. There are so many layers to her, so many pieces of her personality, her likes, her fears, her goals that I’m not aware of.

There was never any doubt we matched sexually. Our tastes and likes in the bedroom, or whatever surface we can find, are spot on. The more I learn about the other facets of her, the more I want her, and I didn’t think that was possible.

Instead of risking her withdrawal this morning, I slip away from her hold and pad across the hall to the shower. I make it a cold one, and still my dick doesn’t soften. Beating one down in my parents’ house with them sleeping not far down the hall is embarrassing, but so is walking around with a hard-on.

I lather my dick with soap and bite my lip as I think about Avery’s curves, her laughter, her scent, and make myself come.

By the time I’m dressed and back in the room, Avery’s sitting up in bed. “All done in there?” she asks.

I’ve never blushed a day in my life, and I’m not one to be ashamed about jerking off, but the heat of embarrassment floods over me.

“Yup. All yours. I’ll start on breakfast.” I leave before she can ask why I’m so edgy. Not that she would. Avery doesn’t ask questions that can lead to a more personal connection.

An hour later, after the dishes are washed and I’ve brought down our bags, the doorbell rings.

Mom answers and gasps in her high-pitched voice she uses around her grandkids. “What a welcome surprise. Grandpa went to the store but will be back soon. He’s going to be so excited to see you.”

I pop my head into the living room and smile down at Katie. “Hey, princess.”

“Someone had a meltdown this morning when I told her Uncle Nolan was going back to Boston.”

I scoop Katie up in my arms and plant a loud kiss on her cheek. “Miss me already, do ya?”

She slaps her hands on my cheeks and presses them hard. “Can you take me wif you?”

“Think you’ll fit in my bag?” I point to the bag by the front door.

“I can try.” She wiggles out of my arms and rushes to my bag.

“Katie Marie,” Serena scolds when Katie flings half my clothes across the living room.

“Uncle Nolan said I could.”

I laugh as Avery comes down the stairs.

“Oh, hi, Serena.”

“Theo wants one more hug from you as well. He’s on the front porch blowing bubbles.”

“That’s so sweet. I’ll go outside and see him.” She goes out the front door and I laugh as Katie struggles to fit in my bag.

“Sorry, princess. I’ll come back soon and visit, okay?”

“Will you trick or treat with us on Halloween?”

I’d be back in a heartbeat if I thought two weeks would be enough time to end the threat. I won’t make any false promises, though, to Katie or to Avery.

“I have to work a lot, but I’ll find time to come visit when I can, okay?”

“Wanna see my costume? Grammie’s making it for me.”

“It’s up in Serena’s old room,” my mom says from behind me.

I follow them upstairs and I wait out in the hall while Katie tries on her mermaid dress. She twirls and jumps on the bed, showing me all her moves.

“Watch how high I can jump.” She jumps once, twice, then a third time, and we hear the rip. “I broke it,” she cries at the hole by the zipper.

“I can fix that in a jiffy, sweetheart,” my mother says.
