He sets my other one down and rests his forehead against mine. “You okay?”
“I’m fine.”
His chest rumbles with laughter, and I think I just fell in love with him. He has to leave.
Now.
“Do you have audio with those cameras?”
“I don’t have it turned on.”
I fix my skirt and move away from the door so I can open it. “That’s too bad.” I bend down and pick up his phone for him. “Thanks for dinner... and the show.”
His brow lifts as he pockets his phone. I stand in the open doorway with a smile, making it clear I’d like him to leave but also that I’m not upset with him.
“I’m sorry about the cameras. Trey and I thought—”
“I’m not upset about the cameras.”
“What just happened—”
“Was hot sex. Exactly what I said I wanted.” I pat his cheek and give him a friendly shove into the hallway. “I’ll see you around.”
I close the door and lock it before he can talk himself into staying the night. I’m too vulnerable after the orgasms that I’m afraid I’ll say yes. I rest my forehead against the door, then remember he can see me here.
I don’t want him to see any regret in me. I spin around and give a finger wave to the camera, moving further into my apartment so I can break down without him seeing.
There’s no way I can kick Nolan out of my life. Somehow we’re both going to have to settle on rough, quick sex to satisfy all our needs. It used to do the trick before.
Before I fell for Nolan Jones.
CHAPTER TEN
It’s been over a weeksince I told Avery about the cameras, and she’s blown it off like it’s not a big deal. I’m still following her to work in the morning—not that she’s aware of that yet—and home in the evening, but she hasn’t invited me in, and she’s turned down my dinner invitations.
I’d heard her tell her work friend about going to the aquarium last weekend and offered to go with her, but she turned me down then too. I threatened to tell Trey that she planned on going out without security, so she asked Nora and Drake to go with her. She even joked about asking Ryder.
