CHAPTER SIX
“Last weekend’s tournamentbrought in nine percent more than last year’s.” Drake points his laser at the graphics on the screen. “Marketing deserves a raise. They pulled no stops on advertising and brought in heavy spenders.”
Ryder reports record numbers as well, which is impressive sinceRedis booked for months in advance. If you want to dine in December, you’d better call before the end of September to book your reservation.
“I was waiting for the fire marshal to shut us down. My bouncers kept close count on who they let in, but The Club was a packed house from five until we shut down at three a.m. Bar tabs were insane.” Trey wipes donut crumbs from the table into his hands and brushes them on his napkin.
“No incidents on my end. Tourney clients were fine. No drugs in the bathrooms. And other than some grabby hands here and there, my security team had a busy but boring weekend.”
Drake runs through a few more slides and we adjust some details to our future tournaments.
“Drake.” Nancy taps on the door. “Nora is here.”
“She can come in.”
Drake stands and meets her at the door. “You don’t have to ask Nancy to announce you.” He greets her with a kiss. “You’re part of Four Aces now too.”
Not even officially married, and Drake has already offered her a piece of the casino. None of us have any problems with it. He’s been more than generous with our salaries and our shares. I have more money than I ever imagined having in my bank account or portfolio.
“Hey, guys.” Nora makes her way around the table, giving us each a hug like she doesn’t see us almost every day. “Sorry to intrude.”
“A beautiful woman is never an intrusion,” Ryder says.
Nora grins at him. “How are you still single?”
“As soon as Trey gives me permission to marry his sister, I won’t be.”
“Over my dead body. And even then.” Trey narrows his eyes at Ryder, who barks out a laugh.
I don’t like the constant references to Avery or how adamant Trey is that no one touches his sister. Our sex the other night was off the charts, not that I’d expect any less. She actually stayed in bed with me for a few minutes until she couldn’t hide her yawns anymore.
I was surprised she agreed to let me drive her home instead of calling an Uber.
“I’m not as open to having a stalker as you are, so you’ll have to pretend you don’t remember where I live,” she’d said.
“What’s my key code?” I asked her in response after I unlocked her door for her.
She scrunched her nose. “Six-four-one-three-four-five?”
“Close. Six-two-five-four-one-three.”
Avery snorted. “I wasn’t even close to being close.”
“Repeat it.”
I waited until she said it over and over again, kissed her fiercely until she forgot her own name, then made her repeat it again. Kiss. Repeat. Kiss. Repeat. Her eyes were dizzy with lust, exactly how I wanted her, and when she could recite my code but barely stand, I walked away.
“Nolan?”
“What?” I snap my head to Nora. “Sorry. Running through my to-do list.” Avery is at the top. It’s been five days and my cock misses her.
