“I know you are mad at me, and rightly so, because I behaved like an ass. I’ve thought about what you said, and you were right. I was insecure that I had gotten so lucky. I should have believed in your love for me, but I didn’t. I can’t tell you how much I regret that. I am so sorry, Anna. I made a terrible mistake.”

She rolled her eyes. “This topic has been beaten to death. We are over, Mihir. Why don’t you get it?”

“We will never be over, Anna,” he said firmly. “It may take days, months, or even years, but I will make you mine again. You belong with me. You and my baby both.”

He raised his palm to cup her face, and she backed a step. Hurt flashed on his face, but she ignored it.

“How are you feeling?” he asked. “Are you alright? Is the baby fine?”

“Yes,” she snapped.

At one time, she would have welcomed all this care and concern from him. Now, it was making her cranky as hell.

“You need to see a doctor, Anna,” he said. “I know you’ve been working nonstop and haven’t visited one yet.”

Of course, he’d kept track of every movement of hers. He had Anton and Lenin still following her everywhere.

“Mihir, just stop,” she said, putting her hands out. “You need to let me be. I don’t want you involved in anything concerning me.”

He shook his head. “I can’t do that, Anna. Iwillbe a part of my baby’s life. My baby will know that he or she has a loving father, someone who’d burn the world to ashes for them.”

His intensity warmed something inside her chest. Annoyed with herself for letting him make her feel like this, she yelled, “You’re just too fucking much. I can’t deal with you right now.”

Whirling around, she tried to move away from him, but he caught her elbow, pulling her to him. “Anna?—”

“Is he bothering you?” A loud voice said from her right.

Ananya turned to find Avantika’s husband, Dev Luthra, standing with his arms crossed on his chest, watching Mihir and her.

Shrugging away from Mihir, she went to the other man. “Dev, hi. I’m so happy to see you.”

Dev drew her into a hug. “How are you? Where have you been for so long?”

“I’m just busy, working as usual…” She gave him a warm smile.

Then he turned his gaze on Mihir. “Who is he? Do you want me to get rid of him,Anna?”

Fuck. Dev never called her Anna—which meant he was here only to create mischief.

She sneaked a glance at Mihir. Sure enough, his entire demeanor had changed. His body had stiffened, and his eyes were cold, dark, and dangerous.

“Who is he?” Mihir asked, his tone dripping with fury. “And why the fuck is he calling you Anna?”

“What say,Anna? Shall I throw him offmyproperty?” Dev put an arm around her, throwing Mihir a devilish smile.

Oh no.

Mihir stormed closer to her, his eyes on Dev. “Who the fuck are you?”

“Dev Luthra. I own this place. Who areyou?”

A flicker of recognition lit up Mihir’s face. Dev was a good friend of Rajiv and an eminent businessman. Of course, Mihir would know him, or of him.

Mihir’s face hardened. “My name is Mihir Oshnov, and if you don’t stop touching mywife, I’m going to break your hand.”

Dev looked at Ananya, one eyebrow raised. “Wife? I didn’t know that.” Then to Mihir, he said. “Go on, I’d like to see you try.”

Mihir took an angry step toward Dev, but Ananya blocked him, pushing him back.
