A simple, fitted blue one that looks good on her. I salivate, though, because I know what she looks like beneath it. My hands ache to run my fingers over her flawless skin, memorizing every freckle and curve.
“Have fun last night?” she asks, voice icy.
I snort. “Drank too much.”
“You think? Your stumbling around woke me up.”
With a sigh, I pour her a cup of coffee and hand it to her. “I’m sorry.”
“Was she pretty?”
I nod, staring at her lips. When she shudders at my response, I realize I answered the wrong question. I thought she said, “Do I look pretty?”
“Wait,” I say with a grunt. “Who?”
She shakes her head in disgust. “Your hookup. Cole told me you have an app, and you were out getting laid.”
The hurt shining in her eyes is a punch to the gut. “I wasn’t hooking up, little S. I was getting fucked up. Big difference.”
“Liar.” Her eyes fill with tears. “I thought you liked what we did yesterday.”
I set my mug down on the counter before prowling over to her. She lifts her chin, facing off with me. Tenderly, I stroke my finger along her jaw, loving how she shivers at my touch.
“I loved it,” I murmur, voice gritty with desire. “Too much. It was wrong.”
She rolls her eyes and walks away from me without another word. Irritation burns through me. I follow after her, not done with our conversation. As she bounds up the stairs, I’m given a delicious flashing of her lacy pink panties.
Once she’s in her room, she sets the mug down on the end table. When she sees me standing in the doorway, she huffs. “What?”
“You’re being ridiculous.”
“Me?” Her tone is shrill. “We got off together, Travis. It was amazing. And then you treated me like I was a mistake.”
She was a mistake.
A sexy, wonderful one.
“Sav—”
“Doesn’t matter. At least I know someone around here actually wants me.”
I stiffen at her words. “You kissed Cole again?”
Irrational jealousy spikes through me. She can’t be serious.
She sits down on the edge of her bed, the material of her dress riding up her smooth thighs. “I was so hurt last night when I found out you were having sex with some rando.”
“I wasn’t having sex with anyone, dammit.”
Her eyebrows furl in confusion. “Really?”
I kneel down in front of her, taking both her hands in mine. “Really. I was screwed up in the head because of what I allowed to happen. I’m the adult. I should have walked away.”
She squeezes my hands. “We’re both consenting adults, Travis. You can’t shoulder the blame on your own.”
“I just…” I sigh heavily, closing my eyes as I attempt to articulate what I want to say. “I’m worried Cole is going to hate me. That you’ll regret what we did. That everything will change.”
She pulls her hands out of mine, leaving them to rest on her thighs, and cups my cheeks. “I have to tell you something.”
