A knock at my office door stops me mid-strike. I nod to Bruce. “Check it.”
The moment Bruce takes his hands off his brother, Dominic crumples to the floor, only partially conscious. I grab a few tissues from the box on my desk and dab my split knuckles. “It’s the girls,” Bruce mumbles as he closes the door.
“Well,” I say. “Don’t just stand there, let them in.”
Kicking Dominic out of the way, I round the corner of my desk and perch on the edge. Bruce opens the door wide, and two gorgeous girls drag their feet inside. One redhead and one blonde, both barely legal, just like I wanted. The uncertainty in their eyes tells me they’re new.Perfect.I’ll have to thank Yuri later.
“Come on in, I don’t bite.” I flash a grin, and spread my arms wide in a show of goodwill. “Bruce, why don’t you get my new friends a drink?”
“Yes, Boss.”
Dominic attempts to sit up behind me, groaning. “When you’re done, take your brother and get him cleaned up. I’ll need you both back here in an hour. We have work to do before I meet my uncle for dinner.”
Bruce nods and pours vodka from my bar cart into three shot glasses. He hands one to each girl before bringing the third to me. I take it and shoot it back, sucking air between my clenched teeth.
“Anything else, Boss?”
Making my way around the desk, I pull open my top drawer and gesture to the contents. Bruce is a good trained dog. He knows exactly what I’m asking for. While he’s busy, I motion for the girls to come closer. “I want to look at you.”
They’re holding hands, the tremble in their limbs evident. “What do you want with us?” the redhead quietly asks. I love the fiery spirit of a redhead. Makes them so much more fun to break.
“We’re just here to have some fun. You like fun, don’t you?” I reach out and run my fingers over their supple skin. So young and pure. “Bruce?”
Bruce may be a fat fuck, but he’s fast when he needs to be. While their wide eyes lock onto mine, Bruce jabs them one at a time with my favorite concoction—a sedative that’ll make them my pliable playthings but won’t completely knock them out. What would be the fun in that?
He’s set up a few lines on my desk for me like a good dog. I need the pick-me-up.
“Where do you want them?” he asks, as the girls heads nod and legs give out.
Sniffing, I point to the couch in the corner. Fucking new office. I need to get this place in order if we’re going to be here for long. I had the perfect setup in the back of Velvet, before those scumbags ruined it.
Flexing my fists, I let the anger wash over me. It’s too bad Brennan’s dead. He would have enjoyed these two. He was always up for some fun. That’s about the only thing I miss about the whiny ass kisser. It’s for the best that he’s gone. I just need to make Ivan agree.
“Get out, Bruce. And be back in an hour. We have work to do. Ivan expects every detail for that fucking New Year’s Eve party.” Like I need to waste time on some politicians and their dicks. But their wallets never run dry… and that makes them our most valuable customers.
I’m hovering over the blonde, belt off, before Bruce and Dominic are out the door. Her eyes flutter open, and she whimpers. “Please…”
This is where I come alive.
CHAPTERFOUR
JASPER
Through the window,I watch the masses of people passing by, each one busy living their ordinary existence. Wrapped in their own world of grocery lists and scheduled meetings. Picking up dry cleaning or rushing home to pay the babysitter. Wonder what that would be like?
“What if I try to… No, they thought of that too. Whoever encrypted this knew what they were doing.” Falin and Leon are side by side on the couch, doing the same shit they’ve been doing everyday since we moved here. My leg won’t stop shaking and it’s driving me crazy. I need something to take the edge off.
“Well, it definitely wasn’t Brennan. He was absolute garbage when it came to tech stuff,” Blake says. She’s on the end of the couch, lacing up her boots for her date day with Damon.
Falin turns to meet her gaze with a sad smile. “Who knows? I mean, hewasliving a double life.”
Blake tucks her head and sighs. “True.” She stands and grabs her coat from the hook behind the front door. “Are you sure you don’t need our help today? I don’t mind staying in.”
“Go have fun. Please… there’s already too many of us in here. We’re going to start killing each other soon.” Falin glances my way before bringing her attention back to her screen.
I’m reminded of how I woke up in her bed, with her body cradled against my chest, the kittens asleep in a cuddle pile at our heads. Fuck, it was nice. Probably the single best way I’ve woken up in the past few years.
Too bad as soon as her eyes opened, she was back to pretending she hates me.
