“No, Daddy.” He shook his head and gave me a tight hug. “I don’t want you to be sad, and I won’t let you out of my sight. Only then I can be sure that I won’t lose you.”
We sat there embracing for a while in darkness and silence, our arms wrapped around each other. I knew that we were both thinking the same thing, how lucky we were to have found each other. We had saved each other from spending a lonely life.
We were already spending all of our time together, and ever since I met Clayton, I slowly shifted from working out of the office to working from home. Even when I worked in the bedroom of our cabin in the woods, Clayton was always on the floor either crayoning or playing with his toys. He was such a good boy, playing quietly so I wouldn’t be disturbed.
I had slowly begun to realize that a Daddy and boy relationship was far more satisfying than a normal relationship. Spending all their time together would drive some people crazy, but a Daddy’s duties and responsibilities were so protective that we had become inseparable.
"Now who's ready for their next surprise?" I asked.
"Another surprise?" He wiggled in my lap and raised his hand, a smile returning on his sweet face. "Me, me! Best day ever."
I chuckled and tapped his bottom, which had become our signal that I was about to stand up and he should cling onto me tightly. I carried him upstairs in my arms before heading over to a room next to the master bedroom.
"Before I open the door, do you have any guesses what the surprise is?" I asked, tapping his bottom and helping him on his feet.
Putting a finger on his chin, he narrowed his eyes and tried to think, his face suddenly lighting up. "Is there a live dinosaur in there that you've somehow recreated from fossil DNA?"
I laughed and shook my head, pushing open the door. "I would give you that if I could. No, it's your new nursery! I had this room renovated so it could suit a boy's needs."
His jaw dropped when he stepped in and looked around. "But it's so big! All this for me?"
"Only the best for my boy." I stroked his hair and nudged him forward. "Go ahead, sweetheart. Take a look around and tell me what you like."
He ran around the nursery, racing from one box of toys to the next, from the bookshelf to the changing table. His smile grew wider and wider, my joy growing just as much.
"Oh, there are so many things in here, I don't know what to play with." He dramatically put the back of his hand to his forehead and pouted. "What's a boy to do?"
"I was afraid making such a decision would be too stressful for you. Why don't you let Daddy choose? I'll show you the walk-in closet first and then we'll play with some toys."
I led him into the walk-in closet while he skipped behind me. "This portion is my favorite, and I hope it'll be yours too. Many animal-themed cosplays here for you to choose from. Everything from dinosaurs, bears, wolves to sharks."
Then I led him to other cartoon themed cosplays, but I could see that his eyes lingered onto the animal ones. Then I showed him his new clothes, dozens and dozens of Little clothes, mostly with animal prints on them.
"I hope this one will be your favorite." I held out a shirt that read 'Daddy's boy'. "Do you want to wear them now or later?"
Instead of replying, he beamed and raised his hands. I swiftly changed him into them and I couldn't believe how cute he looked in red.
"Aren't I cute?" he said, looking in the mirror before fluttering his eyelids at me.
"The cutest!" I moved my face closer to his. "Come give Daddy a kiss."
When he closed his eyes, I planted my lips onto his for a passionate kiss which left him shivering at the end.
He had told me how his parents had never really listened to his needs and desires growing up. They only cared about enforcing a set of strict rules set to make them god-fearing people, but never really listened or let them express their individuality. It was why I made sure I listened to him, to cover up for all those lost years. I listened and let him be whoever and whatever he wanted to be. It only ended up strengthening our bond.
I was sure he loved me just as much as I loved him. It was beginning to look like we were waiting for the other to say the L-word first. Nothing would make me happier than to hear him say the word, but I wanted it to come naturally to him. Saying it first would put pressure on him to say it back, and pressuring my boy was the last thing on my mind.
He checked out a few more clothes before we went back to the nursery, sitting on the floor and holding hands. I stared at him for a while and when he noticed, he blushed.
"What are you looking at?" He moved his face to my chest and looking up at me, he rubbed his cheek against my shirt. "You're staring, Daddy."
"Yes, I am. I'm just checking my boy out. You look so cute in that shirt. It turns me on knowing that you have me on your shirt. I want the world to know that you're mine. Now, let's see what we've got here."
I ended up choosing a block set for him to play with. He seemed to have loved it when he made a block tower with Michael. Two people could participate and it was a perfect bonding moment for us.
"Ready for the final surprise?" I said when he was tired of the building blocks.
"Another surprise, Daddy?" He looked up at me with his head in my lap. "You're gonna drive your boy mad by giving him everything I want all at once."
