I showed him my new dinosaur figurines before crawling with him into the walk-in closet while our Daddies sat outside on the floor. Just like me, Michael's hands reached for the animal cosplays.
"I knew you'd like them too," I said, running my hands through them. "What do you say, we try them and surprise our Daddies?"
He giggled. "They look so realistic. Do you think they can tell we're not real animals?"
I picked the bear cosplay while he went for the wolf.
As we changed, he looked at me. "Turns out you were right about my Daddy. He truly is a one-boy man and I was just overthinking things. He was planning for a surprise birthday party next month and he wanted it to be the best, so he hired an organizer and was constantly on the phone with him. It really does help to talk openly and just get things off your chest. We had an honest chat and now we're closer than ever, all thanks to you."
"You did it all by yourself." I rolled onto my back as he crawled over and helped me with the zip. "I want you to remember it going forward, that relationships are built on trust."
Once we were dressed and put our hoods on, we checked each other out in the mirror before crawling outside to our Daddies and making animal noises.
"Oh, no," John said, scooting away from us. "The wild animals have eaten our boys and now they've come to eat us."
Michael giggled and took his hood off. "No, Daddy! Look! It's me, your boy Michael. I knew you'd think we were animals."
"Aw, you both look so cute in those costumes." Daddy tapped my nose. "And Clayton, no one else could've pulled off a bear cosplay. You look cute as a button, sweetheart."
"You boys were naughty," John said sternly. "You scared us with your costumes and animal noises. You deserve to get punished of course-" when we both pouted at the same time, he smiled- "the punishment of tickles!"
My eyes widened as they leaped onto us, their hands beginning to tickle us mercilessly as muscled bodies pinned us down against the floor. We couldn't help but throw our heads back and laugh hysterically.
"Daddy, stop!" I begged after a while, tears of laughter in my eyes as I panted. "I can't…take it... anymore."
He finally stopped and looked down at me. "You better be a good boy next time then."
"I will!" I shouted when he threatened to tickle me again with his hands. "Just no more tickles."
After lunch, it was time for some reading, so I selected a book from my new bookshelf. The best part about having a Daddy? I didn't have to read the books myself. I could just stare at the pictures while Daddy reads.
We sat in our Daddies' laps, vigorously sucking on our pacifiers.
"Once upon a time, there was a t-rex named…," Daddy began and I found his deep voice soothing and relaxing.
Daddy and Uncle John took turns reading and it was a roller coaster of a ride. Everyone was afraid of the t-rex and no one wanted to be his friend because he looked scary. But when he saves a pterodactyl from certain death, they become friends and everyone sees him for the kind soul he was.
"Whew," I said, popping my paci as my stomach rumbled. "All well that ends well."
"Well, looks like it's time for lunch," Daddy said. "We just moved in, so we need to go grocery shopping tonight. Meanwhile, who's hungry for takeout pizza?"
I raised a hand but Michael seemed to love pizzas more, for he raised both his hands. Pizzas always made me sleepy. I couldn't help but yawn loudly after the last slice, and watching me yawn made Michael do the same.
"Aw, the boys are tired from all the playing," Daddy said, tapping my bottom before standing up with me in his arms. "Off to bed, little ones. Growing boys need lots of sleep."
"And food, lots of food." Michael giggled before yawning again.
They carried us into my new nursery and fortunately the crib-styled bed was large enough for two boys. It was designed to accommodate a Daddy and his boy, but it was perfect for sleepovers too. I couldn't wait for sleepovers. We would probably stay up all night chatting and playing while we pretended to be asleep.
"Daddy, can Dino nap with us too?" I asked, rubbing my eyes as he placed me on the bed. "I don't want him to feel left out."
"Of course, sweetheart." He picked my stuffie off the floor and returned, placing it between my arms as I closed my eyes.
Placing a binky in my mouth, he kissed my head. Soon Michael climbed into the bed and lay next to me. I could hear him suck onto his paci when Daddy covered us with a comforter.
"Ah, isn't it one of the best moments as a Daddy?" Daddy was saying to uncle John. "To watch your boy sleep peacefully knowing Daddy is going to keep him safe, from both monsters and the cruel world. We're so lucky to have such lovely boys."
Uncle John agreed as I began to slip into sleep.
