“I’m not a liar.”

“I like knowing that you enjoyed it, too.”

“I didn’t.”

Romeo sighed. “Liar.”

“It isn’t watching you kill that I enjoy, it’s watching you be free, watching you let go.”

“I’m letting go by grabbing on to someone’s throat. Makes perfect sense.”

“And yes, seeing you kill an asshole I’d caught for you was satisfying.”

Romeo pecked his blushing cheek.

“Knew it. Doesn’t it feel better admitting it?”

“Kind of, but then I look at your cocky face and it’s annoying.”

Romeo bowed forward, laughing. “My cocky, smitten face.”

Chad slammed the trunk and shot a look over to the garage. “We’ve still got Carter’s car to sort out.”

“I’ve ordered a disc cutter, should make the job more manageable.”

“What we gonna do with the pieces?”

“Bury them.”

“That’ll take ages.”

“Good job I’ve got a lot of time on my hands.”

Chad nodded. “The net’s closing in on Carter.”

“Good.”

“He’s linked to the fake names on the land registry and the offshore account. His sunglasses were found at the scene, his Jaguar tire marks match one of the sets on the road, and medical grade equipment was found in the trunk of his car.”

“And he’s vanished.”

“That, too.”

“Not to mention the witness that placed his fancy car at the scene.”

Chad rolled his eyes. “Yeah, that really reliable witness.”

“I heard he sounded handsome.”

“Did he?”

“Yeah, really handsome.”

Chad snorted, shaking his head.

“I doubt this so-called witness’s testimony would’ve been enough to charge him with murder. He would’ve got out of it.”

“Well, he was rather slippery to hold on to…”
