Page 50 of Omega Alliance

"It's okay," she says, her ocean eyes meeting mine and holding them for a moment before looking away. "I'll catch up with you later."

Kieran puts a hand on my arm in a silent show of strength, but letting the Alliance take Dani is not strength at all. It's a mistake, even if the others don't see it. How can they not see it?

"You can't take her," I fight, fumbling with my own seatbelt now, and before Kieran can stop me, I jump from the car and face down the Alliance's official.

"You can't take her without taking me too. I'm the one everyone's looking for. Not her. " I use my sleeve to rub at myface, hoping it will wipe some of the carefully applied cosmetics away and reveal a glimpse of my true face. "It's me. Sin, the people's omega."

The guard's eyes grow wide as he studies me. Despite my efforts to rub the makeup away, I look different now, and he has to decide whether he's going to believe me.

"Hey, Phil! Need you over here for a minute!" he waves and calls to the first guard we encountered while keeping his eyes focused tight on me.

Kieran makes a grab for me through the window, but I dart away. "Dammit, get back in here. Both of you."

"Dani," I gasp. "Now that they have me, you can go. You need to go."

I turn to find Dani stumbling to my side. She reaches for my hand and squeezes it in hers, refusing to back down or to run away.

"Go, go, get out of here!" she shouts at Kieran, who grumbles something then slams the car into reverse.

"I won’t let you sacrifice yourself for me," she says as we both watch the men tear away from the scene. Instead of crossing into the Yukon, they’re gunning it back toward the OA. I know they are, just as I know they'll do everything they can to free us a second time.

"And I can’t let you go alone," I whisper as the two guards exchange furious words and pound on their tablets. They appear to be the only two here, and much more concerned with keeping hold of me and Dani than the fact that they're letting the guys get away.

As far as they know, my kidnappers are to be offered amnesty upon my safe return anyway.

"They're sending a chopper," the taller guard says to his accomplice, and they both nod.

It's official then. I'm going back.

We're going back.

Dani and I will either find a way to escape together, or we'll die in each other's arms. I refuse to let the latter happen. I was born for the role they thrust me into, but this was never meant to be Dani's fate. By choosing me, she chose a future filled with both hardship and danger.

Yet still she made her choice.

She decided that I'm worth it, and for that, I will always be grateful, no matter what happens next.

KIERAN

“What the hell was that?” Levi screams at me from the back seat as I push our little sedan as hard as the engine can handle. Damn it, he should know better than to question me, especially when I'm already questioning myself. It was a fucking ballsy move, but I did it and now we have to live with the consequences, whatever they may be.

"Well?" Levi demands, pissing me off even further.

I work hard to keep my voice controlled. “We’re no good to them if we get captured too, and we’re no good to them if we’re stuck on the other side of the border. So I improvised.”

“And you think we can pull right up to the OA HQ at a hundred and thirty miles per hour, and nobody will stop us?” he practically explodes, leaning forward and gripping both of the front seats with his hands.

I swat him away. “I didn’t think. I just acted. Okay? Somebody had to do something.” And I really need to stop having this conversation so I can focus on what we'll do next.

But Levi is in a talky mood, apparently.

“We should have stayed with them.” He scowls at my reflection in the rearview mirror. I know he’s angry with me, butit’s also my job to make the decisions for our pack, so he needs to shut the fuck up and fall in line.

“It’s too late for that now. So stop bitching about it and start making a plan for how we’re going to get them out of there,” I snarl. I'm acting on pure instinct now. It's like my mind can no longer process complex thoughts. It can only feed or fuck or fight. Adrenaline flies through my veins, readying me for the fight ahead.

“How do you even know they’ll take them back to the complex?” Levi asks, his voice a little calmer as he continues to force the conversation.

“Where else would they go? They can’t stay at that dinky weigh station, and they’ll want to get Sin back on air to reassure their members that she’s safe and well.” I speak each word as soon as it enters my mind, no filter required.
