“You’re important to me too, Nikolai. Can I call you Nik? Your name is such a mouthful.”

“Sure, you can call me Nik. No one else, though. You make sure they all know this is only okay for you.” One side of Nikolai’s mouth turns up into a half smile as I nod.

“Yeah, okay. I can do that. Oh! Look! They’re getting ready to start again.”

I ignore the worried look Nikolai shoots me, focusing my attention on the stage. Once again, as the music begins to play, my eyes fall shut, and I forget the world around me.

“Remington?”

Blinking my eyes open, I find Nikolai’s worried face staring back at me. “What?”

“You went into some trance or something when music started. I have been trying to wake you since the music stopped.”

Frowning, I think back. I feel like even when he called my name, I was still hearing music. Weird.

“Maybe I fell asleep? I don’t know what to tell you, but I’m fine. Are you ready to go to Nightfall?”

Nikolai shakes his head. “I do not believe this is good choice. We should go back to hotel so you can be checked out.”

“I’m fine, Nik. I promise.” I grin at him as I stand. “I feel great. I guess I just needed a nap. I want to see what kind of place my sister picked out for tonight. Let’s hope it’s nothing like last night’s.”

He’s still frowning. “What was wrong with the place last night?”

I shake my head. “Nothing was wrong with it. I just don’t think it’s your kind of place. Come on.”

I skip into the hallway to find Lucas and Mike waiting for us.

“Didn’t you just love the music?” I ask them. “I assume we’re not going out the front door, so where are we going?”

Lucas frowns, his eyes finding Nikolai as he exits the box we enjoyed the symphony from. “Did you take something, Remy?”

“Take something? What are you talking about? Of course, I didn’t. I did fall asleep while listening to the concert, though. It’s put some pep in my step. Can we go now? I don’t really feel like standing still.”

“I told him we should go back to hotel, but he insists we should go to Nightfall. I do not think this is good plan.”

Lucas glances at Mike before shaking his head. “I think you’re right. I’m sorry, Remy. We’re going to need to bring you straight back to the hotel.”

“What? No!” I slap my hands against my legs. “I’m not ready to go back to the hotel. If you won’t take me, then I’ll find my own way there.”

Without waiting for a response, I start down the hallway, but Nikolai cuts me off.

“Nik! Why are you being such a spoiler sport? Are you not enjoying our date? I know I am.”

“I am enjoying this time with you, omega, but I believe something is wrong. Please, will you come back to hotel with us?”

I stamp my foot, frowning. “I don’t want to. You can’t make me.”

“Hey, Remy,” Lucas says, his tone cajoling. “There’s someone on the phone who wants to talk to you.”

“Oh! A phone call? I thought we couldn’t have those.” Spinning around, I snatch the phone from him. “Hello? Who’s this?”

“Remington, what’s going on?”Victoria’s voice rings through the phone, and all my anger washes away.

I wish I was with her.

“You can be, Remy,”she responds, and I guess I said that out loud. Oops.“Lucas, Mike, and Nikolai want to bring you back to me.”

“Oh, Nik! Wait, you can’t call him that. He has been a wonderful date tonight. I’m not ready for our date to end.”
