He grins. “It truly was. I was a little worried since it’s so similar to your sister’s story…”

“It is, but I think that’s part of its beauty. And the way they moved—the way their bodies told the story. I felt it here.” I tap my chest before swiping away my tears. “We should probably head out if we’re going to head to The Gilded Cage.”

He winces. “Is it just me, or does that sound like a strip club?”

I snort. “It totally sounds like one, but I don’t think Emilia would send us to a strip club. Hell, maybe she would. We won’t know until we check it out, will we?”

“You don’t care if it is?” he asks, his hand slipping to my lower back as he leads me out of the box to where Lucas and Mike are waiting for us.

“No, I don’t care. I’ve been to them before. They can be fun, and if that’s what she wants me to do, then who am I to say no?” I grin at our security. “Did the two of you watch the show at least?”

Lucas nods. “We watched from the back of your box. We only stepped out to make sure the hallway was clear. We’re going out through the backstage area to avoid the crowds. The car is already waiting for us.”

He leads us in the opposite direction of the others leaving their boxes, with Mike trailing us until we reach an employees-only door. He knocks, and it pops open to reveal a woman. She offers us a smile before leading us into an elevator that lets us out into a long hallway.

“This is what our backstage area looks like. There is an extra backstage for the dancers, but this is where everything else happens. The exit you’ll be using is at the end of the hall, but I’ve been instructed to make one stop on our way there,” the woman tells us as she starts down the hallway.

“A stop? Where?”

She glances over her shoulder and flashes me another smile. “That’s a surprise. Though, I’m told it’s one you’ll enjoy.”

I jump from foot to foot, wondering what it could be. I don’t want to wait. I want to know now, but that’s just my impatience rearing its ugly head once more. I don’t know what the hell is going on with me today.

Five minutes later, we stop outside of a door that the woman knocks on. When it opens, Sasha Rostova is standing there.

“Oh my gods, you’re Sasha Rostova!” I squeal as if he doesn’t know who he is. “You danced beautifully tonight. It was such an honor to be able to see you dance in your last show.”

Sasha chuckles. “I am glad you enjoyed. You must be omega. Remington, I believe? Carter, it is good seeing you again.”

Holy crap, his Russian accent is so much like the twins’, but theirs are a little more pronounced than his.

“Yes. I’m Remington. It’s so nice to meet you.”

Carter chuckles as he leans over to shake Sasha’s hand. “It’s good to see you, too, Sasha. Are you really retiring?”

“I am. It is time. I am glad to see you and Riley trying to find your omega once more.” Sasha offers him a smile before turning back to me. “I have sent basket of goodies to your hotel. Bree says she will be sure you receive it.”

“That’s so amazing. Thank you so much.” I feel like I’m a babbling idiot right now. “Wait. Would you take a picture with us? Shit, I don’t have a phone.”

Lucas shakes his head. “I got you, Remy. As long as Sasha is okay with it.”

“Oh, yes. Please take picture.” Sasha waves us over until Carter and I are surrounding him. I didn’t realize how short he was until right now. He’s at least two inches shorter than me. His presence is so big on stage that I figured he’d be taller than me. Weird.

I grin like an idiot as Lucas snaps a few photos before stepping away. “Thank you again for meeting us. You’ve made my night.”

“That is good. I hear you are almost done choosing your pack. I am happy for you.” Sasha waves as we start back down the hallway, and I wait until I hear his door shut before I squeal again.

“Oh my gods, I met Sasha Rostova. I can’t wait to tell Emilia. She’ll be so jealous.”

When the woman swings the door open, we step outside to find the car waiting right there. How convenient.

It takes us another twenty minutes to make it to The Gilded Cage, and I’m starting to wonder if it’s a bad idea. It’s already eleven, and I didn’t get enough sleep last night. Maybe we should’ve gone back to the hotel.

But I’m also not ready for my night with Carter to end. I’ve spent a little bit of time with just him, but usually, it’s him and Riley. Riley tends to overshadow his beta—not on purpose, I don’t think. He just has so much presence, and I think Carter prefers to fade into the background. I’m glad I decided to take each of the remaining five suitors out individually this week.

I’ve always liked Carter, but I’m getting to know him better without Riley. His personality shines through more when he’s on his own.

He’s also sexy as fuck.
