“Don’t be like that,” Tanner said, urging Fitz down to one of the big pillows. He sank onto his alpha’s lap. “I love you. And if this makes you happy, it makes me happy.”
“You make me happy,” Fitz said before stealing another kiss.
“Of course I do,” Tanner said. “Me and my gargantuan belly.”
Fitz ran his hand over the swell, his stare serious. “You’ve never been more gorgeous. And it’ll only get better from here.”
“Oh?” he asked before kissing his alpha.
“I have the hots for my pregnant omega. What’s wrong with that?”
Tanner grinned. “Nothing.” He kissed Fitz again. “I suppose we should have sex now and be fruitful.” He looked up to the ceiling. “If the gods somehow get me knocked up again, I willnotbe happy.”
Fitz laughed. “Maybe they’ll add a third or fourth baby in there. Better watch out.”
“Shut your mouth! Donotjinx us like that.”
But it was too late. The jinx had already taken affect—which they didn’t find out until one of their next doctor’s visits a few weeks later. While both Fitz and Tanner were scared as hell at the prospect, the roar of Morgan Walker’s excited “Triplets?!?!?” could be heard for miles around.
Lying in bed soon after, Fitz cuddled his omega close. “Well… we did waste a lot of time arguing all those years.”
“You’re never having sex with me again,” Tanner murmured as he snuggled closer into the crook of Fitz’s arm, knowing that was nowhere near the truth. “Good thing you got that promotion at work. We’re going to need it.”
While he’d taken his name out of contention for the job, as promised, Fitz had impressed his boss. Porter Campbell had in fact asked Fitz to work on a few special projects before recently offering him a senior architect position in that very office without having to worry about moving anywhere.
Not that Tanner would’ve minded. As long as he was with his alpha, that’s all that really mattered.
“Yeah, thank the gods for that promotion because your enormous trust fund won’t help at all.”
Tanner chuckled, but the smile soon faded. “I don’t want to become like my family. I don’t want to spoil our kids rotten. I want them to grow up like you and your brothers did. No big mansions and private schools. No mannies.” Tanner paused. “Well, wait. Mannies are a yes, because sheesh… three? Are you fucking kidding me?Three?” He glared at Fitz.
“It’s not like I wastryingto give you triplets.”
“I’m going to behuge.”
“Iknow,” Fitz said, satisfaction in his voice. “And you’ll be gorgeous. You’re already glowing.”
“Glowing? Pffft.” Tanner snuggled closer. “But what do you think?”
“About your gorgeous, pregnant belly? I approve. Wholeheartedly.”
“No… about raising them not to be spoiled brats.”
“I approve of that, too. Struggling a little made my brothers and I stronger. Closer. But at the same token, I feel this need that my children’s lives need to be better than mine… so maybe we can give thema littlemore than I had growing up.”
“Things don’t make their lives better. Love does. Support does. Being there when it matters does.”
“Okay,” Fitz said. “Then I promise to endeavor to be there whenever it matters. To love and support you and our children in all things.”
Tanner smiled. “Our children will be spoiled. On love and affection. All six of them.”
“Six?”
“Maybe. We’ll see when we get there,” Tanner mumbled before feigning sleep.
“No, no, no… you wake up and talk to me, mister.”
“Can’t. I’m exhausted carrying around your three sons.”
Fitz chuckled before placing a kiss on Tanner’s shoulder. “You are… the most important thing in my life. I cherish you, my omega.”
Tanner opened his eyes and met his alpha’s gaze. “As I should be cherished, my alpha.”
“Indeed.” Fitz kissed him tenderly.
