When he sank into Tanner’s body, they clung to one another before erupting in a concert of movement and sound. Their moans echoed around them in the depth of the vault. Tanner thrust back against him with every stroke, meeting him time and again. Fitz clawed at Tanner’s hips, his neck. He bit and nibbled his omega’s shoulder and neck, leaving behind teeth marks on the man’s flesh.

“Fill me, alpha,” Tanner whispered in the dark space. “Fill me.”

Fitz knew it was the instinct talking. Just as he had the inner alpha, Tanner had his omega nature whispering in his mind. Fitz had held his voice while they’d been together, fearful it was too much, too soon.

But Tanner’s pleadings broke his control. The alpha within was freed. “I want to fill you with my seed,” he murmured against Tanner’s ear. “And put my child inside you.”

Tanner trembled against him. “Please, my alpha… give me a child.”

The words were as ancient as the dance they performed. Primitive expressions spoken by the first alphas and omegas… and on through time. It was a part of their inner nature and didn’t truly speak to how they felt.

Fitz knew Tanner wasn’t prepared to carry his child. They were far from ready. He still had a lot of shit to atone for just to have Tanner agree to be his. Yet the thought of seeing his omega big and round with his child had been lingering with him for days. The true mark he could leave on his omega, his child.

A legacy.

Forever bonding them.

Before he could barely take a breath, his orgasm slammed into him. Just the thought of Tanner pregnant with his child was enough to throw him over the edge. Gripping Tanner’s hips, he drove deep and his knot began to swell. Soon he emptied his seed. Below him, Tanner cried out, coming as well. Fitz lowered his head and kissed a trail up his omega’s spine before they collapsed on their side.

At first, all Fitz could hear was the beating of his heart and their heavy breathing. But then he heard noise outside and realized they weren’t alone.

“Is there someone out there?” Tanner whispered.

“I think so,” Fitz said, worry filling him. They were locked together and he would be unable to protect his mate if someone came in. Carefully, he rolled them over, using his body as cover for whoever might be out there—knowing they were in a vulnerable position.

Tanner might get off on the thought of being caught in the act, but the alpha within knew it put them in danger in a situation like this. Fitz listened closely, trying to determine if someone was coming close. As soon as the knot began to fade, he rose, far sooner than he wanted to, and sorted through their clothes. He tossed a few pieces to Tanner before pulling his own on.

They exited the vault to see Bellamy, Quinn, and Beau searching through what was left of Bellamy’s office space. Heat filled Fitz’s face. As he turned to Tanner, he saw a forced smile.

“Just so we’re clear, these arenotthe people I want to ever catch us in the act,” Tanner whispered low under his breath.

“Noted,” Fitz said as the three seemed to sense their arrival.

“Glad you could join us,” Quinn said, arching one brow.

“I wasn’t aware the three of you were coming,” Tanner said.

“Obviously,” Beau growled, glaring at Fitz. “A dirty vault? Really?”

“Well, when the fever hits, the fever hits,” Tanner said, lifting his chin. “You can’t blame me… my alpha excites me.”

My alpha.

It was the first time Tanner had called him that. And to do it in front of his brothers and Bellamy?

A smile crossed Fitz’s face.

“I guess that makes us official?” Fitz asked under his breath.

Tanner turned to him and wrapped both arms around his waist. “I guess so.”

Fitz lowered his head and captured Tanner’s lips.

“You two need to get a room,” Quinn muttered. “When is the ceremony?”

Tanner looked over one shoulder at his brother. “Who needs a ceremony? We don’t.”

Fitz’s smile faded.
