Page 30 of One Wild Omega

“Harry, I gotta go. Something just came up,” he said. Without waiting for his brother to answer, he ended the call and shoved the phone into his pants pocket. Fitz slowly walked closer, the aroma growing a tiny bit stronger with every step.

Still, it was weak. Barely there, but enough to intoxicate him and draw him closer.

“Mind if I sit here with you?”

The omega lifted his stare from his lunch before glancing around at the four other empty picnic tables before eyeing Fitz. “I don’t own the table, so I suppose you can.”

Fitz flashed a grin and took a seat on the other side of the stone table at the opposite end. He pulled out his phone again and pretended he was checking something… and drew in another inhale.

My omega?

His reaction to that scent was strong… yet not as strong as he expected. If he’s onScentex…I wouldn’t scent anything… right?

“Nice day to eat out here,” Fitz murmured in the omega’s direction.

“Yeah. It is a nice day out,” the omega said before taking another bite.

“I don’t think I’ve seen you out here before. Do you work close?” Fitz wanted to kick himself. He sounded like an utter fool, but he had to get the omega talking.

“I just started a new job,” the omega answered.

“Ah, so that’s why I’ve never seen you.” Fitz pointed to his building. “I work for the Andrews Agency in Building B.”

“An architect, hmm?”

“I am,” Fitz said, puffing out his chest. “The name’s Fitz,” he added, offering a hand.

“Bellamy,” the omega said, taking Fitz’s hand. He smiled as he shook it, but didn’t seem all that interested. “I work at a design firm in Building C.”

“A designer?”

“A junior one, but yeah.”

Fitz grinned. “I’m a junior architect, so no worries. What kind of design?”

The omega had just taken a bite. He lifted a finger as he finished chewing and then answered. “Interior designer.”

“Ah,” Fitz answered, wracking his brain for something he knew about interior design—which naturally he knew a little about, but nothing came to mind. He searched for something else to say, and the next words out of his mouth made him want to cringe. “Nice weather we’ve been having lately.”

You already asked him about the weather, moron!

Bellamy lifted a stare to the blue sky above before nodding. “Yes. Today and the last few have been lovely.”

“Hey, Fitz? We’re headed back in!” called one of his co-workers across the courtyard.

He groaned but was almost glad someone had saved him from making more of an ass of himself. Fitz needed time to regroup, research, and come prepared.

“Work that good?” Bellamy asked with a chuckle.

“Hmm?”

Bellamy frowned. “You don’t seem to happy to be going back in.”

“All day meeting about hownotto sexually harass one another. Fun for hours.”

“All day meeting? Jeez, does your office have some kind of problem?”

“No… well, let’s just say that if there is, I don’t see it.”
