Now he would walk in the darkness without it.

Chuckling, he tossed the amulet down to Cannon’s feet. “Seems I don’t need it after all.”

He spun to face Caelian. Tilting his head, he scented the elf’s fear and grew even harder. He took a few steps closer. Caelian didn’t flee—but he was shaking like a leaf. Blood leaked from the open wound at his neck. He’d forgotten to seal it.

Serves the little thief right.

“This is what you wanted, is it not? To free me from the chains that amulet had me under?”

“I didn’t know,” Caelian whispered. He looked up, his face pale. “I didn’t know.”

Kane lifted a hand and caressed his mate’s cheek. “Oh, but you do now, don’t you, my sweet? You’ve only begun to see the beast I can be…” He leaned in and pressed his lips to Caelian’s shaking ones. “You wanted to be claimed by a vampire. And now, you will.”

He threw Caelian over one shoulder and headed for the elevator. Doors slammed around him as he walked down the hallway, and a smile came to his lips.

Yes… this is what I should’ve been all along.

* * * *

Stolen…

Caelian was tossed to a leather-covered bed in a subterranean apartment. He’d struggled to follow along with where Kane had taken him. The vampire had moved so fast, that the city had been a blur. Add in the blood loss and everything had become a bit hazy.

Vampire. There was no doubt that’s what Kane was now without his amulet. The red in his eyes said it all. And now, Caelian had new visions in his mind—those moments when the witch woman had placed the amulet around his neck.

His family. Murdered.

Caelian felt one wrist being bound. Before he could pull his other hand away, the vampire had it bound, too. Next came his feet, spread apart. He looked up and saw the sparkling dots of red in Kane’s black eyes.

“You begged for my bite, my mate. You begged to see the darkness… you stole the amulet to awaken this new side of me…”

“I didn’t know…” he said weakly.

The vampire slid onto the bed and straddled Caelian’s leg. He leaned down and dragged his fangs along Caelian’s neck. A moan tore from his lips, unbidden. He hadn’t wanted to sound it. Didn’t want to feel the lust slamming into him. Yet his body wanted this man, no matter if he was good or evil.

His brain was another matter.

“I didn’t know,” Caelian moaned. “I had no idea it held back your bloodlust. I swear.”

“It doesn’t matter what you knew or didn’t. You stole from me, and you’ll pay for that sin.”

Caelian’s eyelids closed. He sensed he wanted the punishment Kane would dole out. His body was on fire, ready for whatever Kane was going to do next.

His clothes were ripped from his body, a piece at a time. His cock was hard as stone, jutting before him proudly. Shame hit Caelian.

“You wince as if you don’t want this when we both know you do,” Kane murmured. He gripped the base of Caelian’s cock and stroked it a few times. “Your body shows me just how much you want me.”

“No!” Caelian mumbled. “I don’t want you like this. I want the old Kane.”

“The old Kane is long gone,” he whispered before leaning down to Caelian’s neck.

The slide of fangs into him brought a cry from his lips. Sensual bliss raced through his veins, pleasure unmatched.

He came. Just from the bite alone.

When Kane had finished feeding, he rose from the bed and walked away.

“You can’t leave me like this,” Caelian cried, tugging at the bonds. He felt so weak. So very weak.
