When Hoefsra finally looked back up, he huffed. “The faster you find your answers, the faster you’ll be out of my library. I want to be left to my books and my peace. You’re once again in my way.”

And with that, any hopes that his grandfather had any compassion were gone.

Caelian took the first book off the top of the stack, ignoring the man hovering close. After a moment, his grandfather abandoned him, allowing him to breathe once more.

I need to get the hell out of here.
