Reggie swallowed a moment, realizing this was the one who ended his twin.

“You must be doing it wrong.” The smaller vampire zipped over and snatched Reggie from the first. He pulled Reggie close and glared down. “Calm yourself, boy. Let him drain you.”

“No.”

The smaller vampire frowned before slapping Reggie’s face so hard that he felt as if the monster had knocked his head clear off. The pain slammed into him and made him gasp.

“I said… you will calm yourself… and you will let us drain you.”

“Fuck. You.”

The vampire’s eyes widened in rage. “You want to play rough, huh? Then let’s play rough.” He grabbed Reggie and sank his teeth in.

Reggie screamed in pain. He felt the slide of teeth piercing him. He felt the blood flowing from his body and into the vampire.

And visions came to his mind.

Visions of people dying, one after another. Others, dozens upon dozens of them… and then… he could see his family… one by one…

Mama…

He closed his eyes, knowing he would be one more added to that long list of the dead.

Reggie felt himself dying. He felt the weakness take hold. His legs went out from under him, but the vampire’s strength held him up.

A flash of light so strong he could see it behind his lids shone. He tried to open his eyes, but it was too bright. Reggie fell to the ground, his body limp. He couldn’t move. He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t cry for help.

He could only simply lie there and die.

The darkness called to him.

And yet, he felt himself lifted.

I’m going to heaven…

Then his father’s voice came to him. Fags don’t go to heaven, Reggie.

Sometime later…

Reggie awakened, his vision blurry. His whole body ached…

Ache didn’t quite cut it either.

He was in pain…

Curling up, he cried out, screaming.

Make it stop. Make it stop!

His vision wouldn’t clear… he had no idea where he was.

“Now, now, boy… you just need to sleep. Sleep… sleep…”

The woman’s voice was soothing. Reggie felt a small hand on his forehead, and the pain began to ebb. His body went slack, the pain subsiding. He closed his eyes… and drifted off once more.

Sleep…
