He already felt the stirrings of it in his heart.
Luca turned to gaze at Drake, who was in a deep conversation with Jericho.
“But how do you just go ghost like that? I mean—I saw you dive into that soldier and come right out the other side. He was stunned… frozen to the spot he stood. I’ve never seen anything like it,” Jericho said.
“I can’t really explain it—I just do it.I just turn into a mist whenever I want.” He snapped his fingers and suddenly was gone.
Luca turned, stunned, but yet at the same time, he felt Drake’s presence. Another snap and he returned. Luca pressed a hand and felt he was real under the touch.
“You hadn’t seen that before?” Jericho asked Luca.
“No… I mean, I’ve felt his smoke before.” Heat flooded his face. “But that’s not like this.”
“Yet it is, in a way. When I breathe smoke into you, it’s part of me turning to mist,” Drake said, holding Luca’s stare.
Luca felt that heat rising elsewhere. He swallowed, knowing this was not the spot to show off his need for his dragon.Turning to Jericho, he changed the subject.“So, Drake really seemed to help you on this mission of yours.”
“He was amazing,” Jericho said before looking at Bull.“Wasn’t he?”
Bull was silent a few seconds before glancing at Drake.“He was pretty amazing.I can’t wait to see how much help he can be in the future.”
“Good thing I was there on the bus.Bull isn’t child-friendly.”
“What? Why’s that?” Pablo asked.
“He didn’t know what to do with those kids.I had to help calm them down. Malachi and I kept the kiddie peace.Only a couple cried,” Drake said with a laugh.
“Kids aren’t my thing. What can I say?” Bull said.
“They’d better become your thing,” Pablo said.
Bull frowned. “Why?”
Pablo shot him a gaze.
Luca stiffened, wondering if they’d just been a party to some good news.
Bull’s eyes widen.“Are you?”
Pablo smiled. “I am.”
Jericho dragged Pablo closer as Bull shot from his chair and hugged the male’s other side.
“Perhaps we give these three a moment and get some fresh air?” Drake whispered in his ear.
Happiness filled him, but he knew the triad deserved a moment’s privacy. He nodded and rose to follow Drake to the porch of the house. Drake wrapped him in warm arms and kissed his neck. “Congratulations, Grandpa.”
“Be nice,” Luca warned.
Drake chuckled.“Well, it’s the truth.Good thing you don’t look a day over twenty-five.”
Luca squeezed Drake tight.“Maybe I’ll have a little chance to live vicariously through my son’s child and get to know what it feels like to be a dad.”
“Or we have one or two of our own someday.”
Luca turned to look at Drake, his mind reeling. He understood the concept of male pregnancy through a conversation he’d had with the two bear doctors, but he hadn’t really put two and two together for himself.
Coming from a human background, he hadn’t thought about it. What if he was now? They hadn’t used protection.
