“Will and Josh. Who came next?”
“Third was another roly-poly boy, and they named him Remy, short for Remington.”
“Three boys: Will, Josh, and Remy. Did Frank think the third one was the little red-haired girl?”
“Yes, and again he was wrong.” It’s a good thing Frank didn’t make any bets on the babies because he would have lost.
“Frank was one of four boys, so now I’m beginning to think the last one must be another boy.”
“Frank thought the same thing. He gave up on the little red-haired girl and decided that history must be repeating itself. And that’s when little red-haired Rebecca Caroline was born.”
“RebeccaCaroline? How? Coincidence?”
Nothing in our world is a coincidence. “Remember me telling you about calling out to Augustina and telling her to fight for her life when her father attacked her? I told her my name and that I was her in the future. She never forgot, and that’s why she named her daughter after me.”
“You, in your previous life, named your daughter after your future self who was actually born decades after the daughter. Umm… plot twist.”
“Right!?”
“If I wasn’t sure about wanting children before I’m certain about it now. The elation I felt through Frank when he met his son for the first time was surreal. I’ve never experienced anything like that.”
“Children are an incredible joy. There’s nothing like welcoming your little one into the world.”
“I don’t want to wait to have them.”
“I understand the feeling, but let’s start with meeting each other’s families first.” And putting a wedding ring on my finger.
“I’ll check with my mother today and see which night is best for her and my dad. Are you available any night?”
“As far as I know. Will you come to Sunday brunch with me to meet my mom?” I might as well get it out of the way.
“I can come to brunch this Sunday.”
“All right. Let’s do it.”
Shit.
This is happening.
Chapter17
Caroline Beaumont
New Orleans,Louisiana
Present Day
My stomach has beenin knots for three days thinking about meeting the Wescotts. My soul mate is fated to love me. His parents are not.
“What if your parents don’t like me?”
“Would you stop worrying? They’re going to love you.”
“You keep saying that but it doesn’t make it true.”
Everything Dawsey and I feel is innate. The way weappearto have fallen in love so quickly will be viewed as rash. Our friends and family won’t understand how we can meet and be ready to get married a week later. I would think Teagan and Riley had lost their minds if they met someone and decided to get married in a matter of days.
“Is there anything I can say to put your mind at ease?”
