The guys live in a neighborhood that basically turns into party central over the weekend, and it seems like everyone who wanders the streets seeking a place to hang out and get drunk has shown up.
That’s my cue to get the hell out of here.
Everleigh leaves our little group first, and within minutes, Nico is trailing after her. Coop takes off after receiving a text from Jonesie that he needs help at the bar, and Sienna follows him, though she did grab my hand and give a squeeze before she took off.
She’s getting bolder, but no one notices. Would they even care if we ended up together? Our friends might approve—eventually. Her brother, though? I’m not sure.
And I’m not ready to risk it.
Sienna always stays in my line of vision, though, not straying too far from where I stand in the backyard with a few of my teammates, all of them discussing our chances this season. I worry enough about that and don’t want to talk about it anymore, so I tune them out and concentrate on Sienna instead.
She’s looking hot as fuck in that little black dress that barely covers her delicious body and those sexy black high-heeled sandals that make her legs look extra long. The image of me pushing inside her while she’s wearing nothing but those shoes flits through my brain, and that’s all it takes. I’m chasing.
On the hunt for my girl.
She realizes quickly that I’m coming for her, and she starts walking. Wandering toward the side of the house, and I follow her, remaining at a healthy distance. No one is paying attention to us, anyway. As the crowd gets drunker, they get more focused on their own thing. In search of more alcohol; in search of that girl or guy they’re into; in search of an empty bedroom or bathroom so they can fuck around.
Glancing over my shoulder, I check to make sure no one is following me before I round the side of the house to find Sienna leaning against the wall, her hands behind her back, her feet kicked out, one ankle crossed over the other.
I come to a skidding stop, taking her in. The dress molds to her delectable body, and I curl my fingers into fists so I don’t do something stupid. Like rip the dress off her.
“Hey, Gav.” Her naughty smile makes my dick twitch.
“Hey, Freckles.” I don’t come any closer, enjoying the view for a little while longer. Damn, she’s sexy. Confident. Beautiful.
“Think they caught on?” Her voice is soft, and it takes me a second to understand what she said.
I take a step closer, checking over my shoulder one last time before I turn and face her. “Caught on to what? Us?”
“Yes. I think we played our usual roles rather well.” She smiles, and I can’t help but smile back.
“Is that what we’re doing? Maintaining our usual roles?” I may play dumb in front of our friends, but I know what’s up. Nico said I’mpretending not to notice her, and he’s right. How can I miss this girl? This gorgeous, beautiful girl.
More like I’m dumbstruck by Sienna and how she makes me feel.
She nods. “We can’t let them know what’s really going on, can we?”
I take a couple of steps closer to her, her scent hitting me. Spicy-sweet and making my mouth water. “Are you telling me you want to keep up the pretense that you’re crushing on me and I have no idea?”
Her dark eyes are wide when they meet mine, her lips pursed in a sexy pout. “Wouldn’t that be easier for you? I know you’re currently under tremendous pressure, Gavin.”
I love it when she says my full name. Love it more when she looks at me like that, innocent yet sultry. A total contradiction. And what she’s saying is true. I’m under a lot of pressure, and I wasn’t lying when I told her I didn’t need a distraction. And that she was my biggest distraction.
She is. The biggest one I’ve got. One I welcome with open arms, but only under certain conditions.
And damn, that sucks.
“I am,” I finally say, closing in on her, my hands landing on the curve of her waist. Pinning her to the wall. “Think anyone would find us back here?”
It’s a dark and narrow spot in this part of the house, and I can hear people on the other side of the fence, in the front yard. There are people in the backyard not too far away from where we’re at too.
Yet all I can think about is fucking her right here. Shrouded in the dark yet surrounded by all kinds of people—some that we know. Including her brother.
That’s pretty messed up. But when it comes to Sienna, I lose all sense of reason. She’s all I can focus on. All I can think about.
See? The ultimate distraction.
“No. No one could find us.” She slowly shakes her head. “They can’t even see anything back here, it’s so dark.”
