CHAPTER 34
Ignoring every instinct screaming at him that this was a mistake, Stark knocked on Rayna’s door. He’d been at the goddamn gym for nearly an hour, punishing his muscles into another needless workout just because he couldn’t stand the thought of leaving Rayna and Rupert alone. They had finished their workout, and even though Stark had watched Rayna leave in her car, his tension had been sky high the entire drive home.
He’d had no idea what he would have done if Rayna’s SUV hadn’t been in her driveway or, worse, if Rupert’s car had been there. Thankfully, it was only Rayna’s SUV in her driveway.
He was too worked up to eat dinner, but he had a hot shower and then fed Molly. Even his now nightly habit of bringing the three kittens onto the bed and cuddling them hadn’t eased his irritation. He kept seeing Rayna flirting with Rupert, the images in his mind driving him crazy, until here he was, knocking on her door, full of jealousy and bad intentions.
The wind was ice cold, and he waited impatiently for only a minute or so before knocking again and shoving his hands into his jacket pockets.
The door opened, and Rayna, her wet hair tucked behind her ears and - fucking hell - wearing nothing but a long t-shirt, said, “You don’t have to pound on the door. I have a working doorbell now, thanks to you.”
He pushed past her, the jealousy and anger and lust a swirling mass in his belly.
“Come on in,” she said with an exaggerated eye roll before closing the door and locking it.
They stared silently at each other in the narrow hallway before Rayna finally said, “What do you want? I was just about to go to bed.”
He folded his arms across his chest and scowled at her. “I gave you a pass to my gym to work out, Ms. Abrams.”
“I’m aware,” she said, giving him a ‘why are you acting so dumb’ look that only inflamed him more.
“Are you sure? Since you spent the entire evening flirting with my employee instead of working out, maybe I should take back the gym pass.”
Her eyes widened, and his scowl deepened when she started laughing. “You’re taking away the gym pass because you’re jealous I made a new friend at the gym?”
“You want him to be more than a friend, and I am not jealous of your flirting,” he snarled.
“I wasn’t flirting,” she said.
“Bullshit.”
She paused before grinning. “Yeah, you’re right. I was flirting. Rupert’s cute.”
“You are not allowed to flirt with my employees,” he snapped.
She laughed again. “Says who?”
“He’s too young for you,” he said, as what suspiciously sounded a little like desperation coloured his voice.
“He told me he’s twenty-four,” she said. “Stop acting like I’m robbing the cradle.”
“Ms. Abrams, I forbid you to flirt with my employees.”
“Oh, you forbid me now.” She crowded in close, and his cock turned to stone when her breasts brushed against him. She stood on her tiptoes and curled her hand around the back of his neck, lightly tugging until he bent his head and his mouth was only inches from hers. “What will you do to me if I keep flirting with your employees?”
“Rayna,” he groaned. In an instant, his jealousy became an uncontrollable burn for her. Christ, he wanted to kiss her. Needed to kiss her.
“Will you spank me, Stark?”
His breath shuddered out of him as the last of his control eroded. He grabbed her hips, yanking her fully against him and grinding his dick against her. “If you want me to.”
Her right hand squeezed the back of his neck as her left hand fisted in his shirt. “There are a lot of things I want you to do to me.”
“Like what? Be specific,” he said.
Her tongue darted out to wet her lower lip, and he tracked the movement like a predator. She rubbed her lower body against him, and he hissed out a breath at the pressure against his aching cock.
“Kiss me,” she said.
