“Yes.”
Happiness flooded through her and shepalmed his cock, enjoying the soft groan he made. “Good, because I really wantto see your -”
His phone rang and they both froze. Hetook a step away from her. “It’s Kira’s ring.”
“Don’t answer it,” she said.
“I have to.” He pulled his phone out ofhis pocket.
“You don’t.”
“It could be an emergency.”
“She has Connor,” Grace said. “We don’thave to look after her anymore, Gideon. At least not the way we used to.”
He hesitated. Guilt was already washingover his face in slow waves. She knew that just seeing Kira’s name on his phonewas enough to make him come back to his senses and regret everything that happenedbetween them tonight. He glanced at his phone again. “She’s my sister, Grace.I can’t ignore her.”
He answered the phone. “Kira, hey, what’sup? You okay?”
She could hear Kira’s voice, tinny and abit staticky. “Hey, bud! I’m good. I called because we haven’t talked for acouple of days. Whatcha’ up to? Are you and Connor still on for beers tomorrownight?”
Grace buttoned and zipped her pants before reachingfor the door.
“Kira, one second.” Gideon put his handover the phone. “Grace, I’m sorry. Give me a minute and -”
“No,” she said. “I have to go.”
She opened the door and peered into thehallway. It was empty and she slipped out of the bathroom, shaking Gideon’shand off her arm and shutting the door behind her.
She could hear the others still talking inthe kitchen and she crept down the hallway and out the front door, shutting itsoftly behind her.
Chapter Eleven
“Grace, are you sure you’re okay?” Kira staredworriedly at her. “You’re acting really weird.”
“I’m fine,” Grace said. I’m a little tired.”
“Is your insomnia starting up again?” Addisonsaid.
“I didn’t sleep much last night, but I’mnot sure if it was insomnia or just a bad night of sleep. You know?” Gracesaid.
Addie’s fingers continued to weave thebright coloured threads. “Man, I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t sleep.I’ve had a few nights of lost sleep over the wedding planning and I was a blubberingwhining wreck.”
Kira sank onto the couch next to Grace. “Areyou sure it’s just that? You seem off. I’m worried about you. You haven’tbeen your usual… smartassy self lately.”
“Smartassy?” Grace laughed and patted Kira’sleg. “There’s nothing wrong. I had a busy day at work yesterday and then Ihad the fundraiser meeting at Wanda’s, so it was a really long day.”
“Oh yeah, Gideon’s helping out with thattoo,” Kira said. “He mentioned it when he picked up Connor earlier.”
“What are they doing tonight?” Addison frownedat her tangled threads and carefully picked them apart.
“Just going for beers. Boy, you’re reallyinto this friendship bracelet thing, huh?” Kira studied the four colourfulbracelets that were wrapped around Addie’s wrist before touching the two on herown. “Not that I’m complaining. They’re super cute and I love mine.”
Addison shrugged. “I like making them. Ineeded something to keep my hands busy while I’m worrying over wedding details andI’m kind of over knitting right now.”
“Seriously?” Grace studied the two braceletsaround her own wrist. “You’re finished with knitting? You’ve been knittingsince you were a kid, Addie.”
“I’m not finished with it,” Addison said. “Justtaking a break from it.”
