He laughed and tossed her the keys. She caughtthem neatly and he winked at her. “Let’s go, Sunshine.”

“Go where?” she said.

“Back to your place. I just took it for adrive a week or so ago, so it’ll start fine, but you’ll have to move the seatforward. My legs are a fuck of a lot longer than yours.”

“Why am I driving?”

“Might as well get used to it,” he said.

She stared at him. “What am I missing?”

He pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead.“You can use the car until we find you a new one.”

Her eyes widened. “Simon, I can’t… I mean…”

“What?” he said.

“I can’t just use your car. What if you needit?”

“I have the bike,” he said.

She chewed at her bottom lip. “This is toogenerous of a gift, Simon. I can buy a second-hand car and -”

“I’m not letting you drive some piece ofshit car that could break down and leave you stranded in the middle of nowhereagain,” he said. “We’ll go car shopping this weekend and see if we can findyou something that’s reliable and in your price range. I know a guy who might havesomething.”

She stared at the SUV again before hugginghim hard and kissing him. “Thank you, Simon. This is amazing and I so appreciateit.”

“You’re welcome, Sunshine.” He kissed heragain before squeezing her ass. “C’mon, let’s get out of here. It’s toofucking hot to stand outside.”

She laughed and pinched his cheek. “If you’rea very good boy, I might just stop at the Dairy Queen on the way home and get usice cream cones.”

“Sunshine,” he squeezed her firm ass again,“I’m always a very good boy.”

Chapter Thirty

“Man, if it gets any busier in here, we’regonna need to hire a receptionist. I can’t keep up with the calls and thewalk-ins,” Nolan said.

“Might be an idea.” Preacher pulled hisphone out of his pocket, smiling when he saw the message from Addie. She was backto work today but she had texted him during her lunch hour to say hi and ask ifhe was coming by tonight.

Before he could text back, Nolan nudged Nixand said, “See, I told you.”

“You told him what?” Preacher looked upfrom his phone.

“That you must be getting laid on the regular. You’ve never been this cheerful the entire fucking time I’ve known you.”

“Fuck off, Nolan,” Preacher said.

Nolan laughed. “Even your ‘fuck off’s’ arecute right now.”

Preacher rolled his eyes as Nolan said, “Justthe fact that you’re agreeing to a receptionist is a goddamn miracle.”

“I said it might be an idea, I didn’t say Iagreed to it,” Preacher said. “Keep running your mouth and I’ll put you onreception duties full fucking time.”

“He doesn’t mean it,” Nolan said to Nix. “Lookat that sparkle in his eye. He’s like a kid in a fucking candy store, am Iright?”

Nix didn’t reply and Nolan grinned at Preacher.“C’mon, dude, who are you playing hide the salami with? Anyone I know?”

Preacher glanced at Nix. The tattoo artisthad been in the shop the day he’d brought Addison to his apartment when she wassick. He was the only one in town besides Gideon and Grace and Kira who knewthat he and Addison were together. Apparently, he hadn’t said anything toNolan and as far as Preacher was concerned, that upped Nix’s cool factor.
