“I came to talk.”

“And you just let yourself in?” Sheglanced at the bedroom before pushing past Harrison toward the kitchen. Thankfully,he followed her, and she glared at him as she grabbed a pod of coffee and stuckit into the machine.

“It’s almost ten. Why are you still inbed?” Harrison said. “And what’s going on with your hair?”

“I just woke up,” she said as the smell ofcoffee filled the kitchen. “Why are you here?”

“I told you – I wanted to talk.”

“You can’t just come into my apartment,Harrison.” She grabbed the milk from the fridge and added some to her coffee.

“Babe, we’ve been together since highschool. You don’t care if I let myself into your apartment.”

“Actually, I do,” she said. “We’re not togetheranymore, remember?”

“That’s what I’m here to talk about,” hesaid as he reached for the coffee. “Thanks, babe.”

“This isn’t for you.” She backed away.“Jesus, Harrison.”

He stared at her in surprise as she sippedat the coffee. “Addie? You’re acting really differently.”

“What do you want?”

“I miss you, babe. I’m ready to end thisbreak we’re on.”

Her mouth dropped open and she staredsilently at him.

He cleared his throat. “I told you I neededa bit of time to get some stuff out of my system. It’s out now and I’m ready tobe with you again.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?”

His eyes widened. “Since when do you talklike a trucker?”

“I don’t know. Since I walked in on my fiancéwearing a dog collar and being spanked by his damn legal assistant?”

Harrison’s face turned bright red. “Youdon’t have to be crude.”

“You cheated on me!” She slammed hercoffee cup down in the sink so hard that coffee splattered across her arm and thecounter. “Multiple times! You really think I’m just going to forgive and forgetthat?”

“I cheated because you weren’t willing togive me what I needed in bed,” Harrison said. “I only slept with Crystalbecause she wasn’t weirded out by – “

“Weirded out? How could I be weirded outby your kinks in bed when I didn’t even know about them?” Addison said.

“I couldn’t tell you about them,” Harrison said.“You’re too strait-laced, and you’re not that adventurous in bed. You knowyou’re not.”

“If I suck so much in bed, why do you wantto get back together with me?”

“I can show you some things,” he said delicately.“I realize now that having you in my life is worth the sex problems. You canspeak to a therapist about your intimacy issues and we’ll get through thistogether, babe.”

“My intimacy issues,” she said.

He sighed. “Babe, stop focusing on thenegative, okay? I love you and I want to be with you. I don’t care if you’renot good in bed. Do you understand? Sex isn’t everything and -”

There was a knock on the front door of herapartment before it opened and Grace said, “Addie? You home? Sorry to just showup like this but, for once, both Kira and I have a Saturday off. We’re headed tothe farmer’s market and you’re coming with us. No arguments or… oh, hell no.” Graceglared at Harrison. “Why is this asshole here?”

Before Addie could reply, Grace cocked herhead. “Why do you have ‘just been fucked’ hair, Addie?”

“This isn’t a good time,” Addison said.“Can I text you later and -”
