“See anything you like?” The arrogant tone in his voice is my breaking point.
I shove my way into the dressing room and pull the door closed behind me. “Stop being such an asshole. We have to spend the weekend together, remember?”
He scowls at me in the mirror, anddamnif it isn’t the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen. “I remember. I have to pretend to be your boyfriend while wearing these stupid, preppy clothes and keeping my hands to myself while you look at me like you want to devour me whole.”
Shit. I guess he’s caught me looking more than once. Do I want to devour him whole? Yes, yes, I do. “Maybe we stop pretending for the weekend. Have a little fun.”
I stalk closer, watching his entire demeanor change in the mirror. His shoulders stiffen, his back straightens, and what just might be the beginning of a wicked smile, curves his mouth. He turns to face me, and I don’t know where to look. His gorgeous face, that sexy smile, or the carved lines of his lean torso covered in ink.
Yanking on the black shirt, he turns to face me. “You should get out of here before we get in trouble.”
A laugh tickles my throat. “Is bad boy Jay Sanchez afraid of mall security?”
He steps closer, reaches behind me, and opens the door. “No, but I am afraid of you, Mia. You look a little feral right now.”
“Fuck you,” I say.
“Yes.” His laugh sounds as he ushers me out of the dressing room. “I believe that’s what you’re asking.”
“Are you seriously turning me down?” I shove my arm into the open space of the door, prying it open. “You seemed pretty eager last time.”
He looks me up and down, his gaze molten hot as he leans on the door between us. “I’ll think about it.”
The way he’s looking at me makes me tingle in all the right places. I smile slowly, enjoying the sizzle of chemistry between us. “See that you do.”
Jay gives me one more heated glance, then steps back. “Let me get dressed,” he says. “I still have to pick out your outfit.”
“Okay, but we are buying this.” I hold up the floral shirt as he closes the door. “I can’t wait to see you wearing it.”
“Over my dead body,” he says.
Under the partition, I see his pants drop to the floor. Heat scorches through me as I imagine him standing nearly naked on the other side of the door. For the first time since I got the invitation, I’m actually looking forward to my little brother’s wedding weekend.
CHAPTER 23
Champagne Talking
“First Class Virgin?” Mia asks.
“I’m ruined for life.” Stretching out my legs, I kick back in the seat and get comfortable. There’s plenty of room for my legs, and with only two seats in the row, my shoulders aren’t bumping anything but air.
Mia gives my outstretched legs a smile. “Pretty fucking sweet, isn’t it?”
“Anyone ever tell you for such a pretty woman you have a very dirty mouth, Ms. James?”
She laughs, a low, naughty sound that makes my blood hum every time I hear it. Reaching up, she presses the call button for the flight attendant.
“I’m on my first vacation in years, and I am about to get tipsy on free Champagne.” She points at her cherry red lips, slick with gloss. “The mouth is gonna get a lot dirtier.”
I can’t tear my gaze away from her mouth. Ever since she’d told me to think about having sex with her, I’ve done nothing but think about having sex with her. Starting with kissing her dirty mouth.
The flight attendant approaches, and Mia orders two glasses of Champagne, then looks at me. “Care to join me?”
“Isn’t one of those glasses for me?”
“Nope.” She wags a finger at me. “Get your own.”
It’s pretty early for me to start drinking, but I’m also on my first vacation in years. And it’s all expenses paid. And it’s with Mia. “I’ll have tequila on ice.”
