P.S. Let me know if you need anything from Blanchard’s

CHAPTER 17

How Was Your Day, Dear?

Jay quickly becomes a fixture in my life. Since George installed the high-tech security system in my condo, he no longer spends the night, but he is the first person I see in the morning and the last person I see before I go to bed.

He waits for me after work, escorts me home, does a sweep of my condo and locks me in for the night. The next morning he’s back. He sees me off to work and is waiting for me when I leave the building.

He’s a quiet shadow, keeping me safe but never intruding on my boundaries.

Although I’ve seen him every single day, we’ve barely spoken more than a few words. I know little more about Jay than I did that first night we met. Except now I’ve seen him naked, and I know he was blessed by superior genetics in the manhood department and he isn’t tattooedeverywhere.

He’s physically the most perfect man in every imaginable way. His body looks like he’s been honing it for years. Not an ounce of fat dares to cling to his muscular frame, and his proportions are more than adequate.Quite a bit more.

After checking in with Jordan to let him know I’m running off to Blanchard’s and won’t be back until the followingday, I step outside for the first time in ten hours and scan the parking lot for the familiar Harley Davidson.

Despite the chill in the air, warmth fills my body as I see Jay, leaning against his motorcycle. He’s wearing all black as usual, and his hair is pulled back from his face in a ponytail at the nape of his neck. Dark sunglasses cover his eyes, but I can feel the intensity of his gaze sweeping over me.

He pushes to his feet and walks toward me with a purposeful stride that eats up the distance between us before I can blink. The man moves like a predator, and I am ready to be devoured.

Ugh. These thoughts come out of nowhere when Jay is around. I’m normal one minute, and then I’m so hot and bothered I can barely breathe the next.

Must be the pheromones. His scent is undeniably sexy.

“Hey—”

He takes my arm and pushes me slightly behind him. “Stay behind me.”

My heart lurches into my throat. “What’s wrong?”

“I don’t like the look of that Lexus,” he says.

“Which one?” The parking lot is full of Lexuses, including my small SUV.

“Just stay behind me,” he says, leading the way to my car. “Got your key out?”

I grab my key from my purse and press the unlock button as we approach my car. Jay hands me inside and stands between me and the open door.

“Go straight home,” he says.

I plant my hand on the door as he tries to close it. “I need to go to Blanchard’s,” I say. “I’ve got nothing to eat.”

He scans the parking lot, then backs up a few feet. “I’ll meet you there.”

“You don’t need to come with me to the grocery store. How am I going to explain you following me around the aisles?”

“I’m your boyfriend. We can shop together.”

He closes the door, giving me no chance to protest.

By the time I park in the lot at the grocery store, Jay is already there, waiting for me. He escorts me to the store, then stands aside as I pull out a shopping cart. It’s funny to see a man like Jay at the market. His bad boy image doesn’t add up to buying toilet paper and bananas.

Inside the store he hooks his sunglasses in the pocket of his black leather jacket and strolls slightly in front of me, his watchful gaze scanning everything in sight.

“Don’t be so obvious,” I say. “I doubt anyone is going to kill me at Blanchard’s.”

He slows down and walks beside me, but his serious expression doesn’t change.
