JULIET

Something pulledme from my restless sleep—restless because I was the only one in the bed. I smiled when I realized the shower was running. Romeo was back.

My too-bright phone screen told me it was 3:30 a.m. The cold air made me want to snuggle deeper under the covers, but I missed Romeo too much to keep any distance between us.

I crept into the bathroom and leaned back on the vanity as I studied him. He was facing the shower wall, the water falling on his broad back. My eyes trailed down to his tight ass and muscular thighs. I’d never been one to fawn over men’s bodies, but Romeo’s was perfection. Not in an air-brushed, artificial way, but in a raw, primal way.

I placed my hands on the vanity and boosted myself up so I was sitting on the counter.

Romeo froze. Ever so slowly, he turned to face me. His eyes glinted as he ran his thumb across his lower lip and took me in. I was wearing one of his T-shirts and nothing else.

“What are you doing out of bed?” His voice was like gravel.

“I heard my man in the shower.”

His eyes pinned me, but for some reason, the aggression pouring off of him didn’t scare me. This was Romeo. My Romeo. “Look at my naughty girl, getting out of bed so she can stare at her man.”

I smiled, my cheeks flushing. “Any complaints?”

“Fuck no. You can stare at me anytime you want.”

He turned off the water and stepped out of the huge walk-in shower, covering the distance between us without grabbing a towel. He shook his hair and I squealed as water droplets landed on me. I shoved his chest. “Get a towel.”

He leaned forward, pressing a wet kiss to my forehead before drying himself off. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from his half-hard cock, and he knew it. He fisted it, slowly stroking it as he prowled towards me.

I opened my arms as he stepped between my legs and gathered me to his chest.

“I missed you, angel.”

I kissed his shoulder, smiling when I realized he’d used my body wash. “I missed you, too. Did work go okay?”

He pressed his face to the top of my head and breathed me in. The silence stretched so long I was sure he wouldn’t answer, but then he huffed out a breath. “Yeah, it went okay.” His fingers dug into my hips, and I wasn’t sure he was telling the truth. Tension lined his muscles and I hugged him tighter, trying to ease his stress.

Did it make me a coward that I didn’t want to know the details of his work? I knew it wasn’t all good or legal, but when Romeo was wrapped around me like this, it was hard to care.

He gripped my jaw and gave me a hard kiss. I melted into him, returning his intensity until his wet hair flopped onto his forehead and water dripped down my face.

I giggled as he pulled away.

“I need a haircut,” he grumbled as he shoved the front of his hair back. It immediately fell across his forehead again. “Fuck it. I’ll get some scissors and cut it myself.”

“No.” I lightly slapped his hand.

“I don’t have time to get a haircut and I can’t keep living like this.”

I snorted a laugh. “You are so dramatic.” I gently brushed his hair back. “I’ll cut your hair.”

He ran his hands slowly up my thighs. “You would do that for me, angel?”

“Of course. And if you’re nice to me, I’ll even make sure you look extra pretty.”

He collared my throat, gently tilting my head back before his lips crashed against mine. He sucked on my tongue and nipped my lower lip, his hand tightening just enough to send a shiver through me.

“I’ll be so nice to you, baby. So fucking nice.”

I ran my fingers through his hair and gave a firm tug. “The nicest.”
