Belle shrugs and says, “Let us go eat something.”

“Mind if I join?” Eric smirks at her.

Belle scrunches her nose at him. “Ew, no.”

I laugh as Belle links her arm with mine. Her touch is comforting, but not the same. It is nothing I crave compared to Azura’s. Belle’s heat doesn’t warm me like Azura’s. This obsession with Azura is unhealthy, yet when I try to think of something else, all I can see is her blonde hair draped over my pillow. I close my eyes, letting out a shaky breath before looking over my shoulder at the stairs. Azura is nowhere to be seen. I feel my chest tighten and my smile fade.

“Don’t worry about her. She just needs some time to herself. You know Azura. We will see her for our girls’ night.”

“Yeah,” I mumble, “we will.”

My mind doesn’t want to focus on the now. I try to think of the food that awaits me, but my thoughts keep circling back to this morning when Azura’s mouth was buried between my thighs, and she was milking pleasure from me.

The rest of the day goes by slowly, lunch, followed by my duties, followed by dinner. Usually, I would find little moments of joy in the routine, but Azura isn’t there for any of it, which makes the time drag and everything feel dull. As the day ends and I prepare for our girls’ night, I am nearly vibrating with excitement. I slip on my nightgown, spinning in a circle before preparing my room. I gather more pillows than we need, toss them on the bed, and arrange the snacks I had brought up.

I am just lighting the candles when there is a knock on the door. I frown, placing a hand on my stomach as my heart drops. This doesn’t feel right. Why doesn’t this feel right?

Because everyone is starting to leave you.

I open the door to one of Azura’s maids. Her eyes are glazed, and it feels like she is looking past me. I raise my hand to wave it in front of her, but I stop as she holds out a letter.

“From Lady Azura,” she says, her voice flat.

“Thank you…”

She doesn’t let me finish as she turns on her heel and walks toward Azura’s room. I watch her go, my brow furrowing. It is probably nothing. She is most likely just tired from the travel and all the excitement. I should ask Father to arrange a day of rest for the staff.

I close the door, my steps slow as I make my way to the bed and plop down. I unfold the note, my eyes skimming over Azura’s perfect handwriting.

I’m feeling under the weather, dear one.

A.

For a moment, I sit there in shock before tears roll down my face. The only thing that helped me get through the day was knowing that I would be spending the night with Belle and Azura.

See? They are all going to leave you.

Disappointment twists my insides, and I decide that for once, I can’t let it go.

No. She is just not feeling herself. I need to check on her.

I grab my robe, wrapping it tightly around my body as I walk down the hallway to her room and knock. The door opens, and Azura pokes her head out.

“Snow? Did you not get my note?” she asks, tilting her head.

I nod. “I did, but I was worried. May I come in?”

She opens the door and touches her forehead. “Just a headache.”

“I’ll have someone make you some soup,” I say as I step into her room.

“I’ll be fine, Snow. It’s just a little headache,” Azura repeats.

“You know what cures headaches?” Belle says from behind me, causing me to jump.

“Gosh, Belle! You scared me!” I gasp, placing a hand on my chest.

Belle wanders in, snorting at me. Her body sways from side to side and I can’t help but if she is drunk.
