chapter 11
. . .
Tyler
“Why are you back here?” I asked when I saw Logan and his pack walking into the living room. They were supposed to be with Carmen, knotting her despite my jealousy.
“She doesn’t want anyone,” said Logan, rubbing his face as he sighed.
“She needs an alpha’s knot right now,” I said, feeling uneasy as I stood up from my chair.
Logan ran a hand through his hair. “She doesn’t want anyone, Tyler. She’s refusing us all after you acted like an ass.”
Anger and confusion twisted in my stomach. “That’s not supposed to happen! You guys are supposed to knot her during her heat.”
“Look, she just doesn’t want it,” Logan shot back, his dark eyes narrowing.
“Then what the hell do you plan on doing?” I demanded, clenching my fists as I paced the living room.
His face reddened with anger as he confronted me, his voice low and dangerous. “The only alpha she wants is you. So, fucking grow some balls and stop rejecting her constantly!”
My jaw tightened, but I didn't respond, still pacing the living room like a caged animal. Axel, ever the voice of reason, stepped closer. “Tyler, we really should help Carmen. How would you feel if something happened to her?”
An intense pressure squeezed my chest. I couldn’t lead her on, but I also couldn’t let anything happen to her.
“I wouldn’t be able to live with myself,” I admitted, my voice cracking slightly.
Suddenly, we all heard a heart-stopping shriek coming from Carmen’s room. Panic surged through me, and I sprinted toward her door.
“Carmen… open up!” I shouted, pounding on the locked door. Adrenaline pumped through my veins, making me forget that I was only wearing boxers.
“Absolutely not!” Carmen’s defiant voice came from behind the door. But I could hear the fear in her tone and how she was getting weaker by the second.
“Dammit, Carmen, you’re in heat,” I growled through the door. “You need an alpha’s knot. Let Logan help you.”
“No, thank you,” she replied primly, but I could hear her grunting in pain.
“Are you still a virgin?” I asked gently, trying to calm her down. There was silence, and I knew I’d struck a nerve. “I’ll be gentle for your first time.”
“Get lost, Tyler!” she screamed.
My patience snapped.
“I will break this door down if I have to!” I snarled. Hearing the sound of the window opening, I realized with horror that she might try to throw herself out into the snow again.
She wasn’t going to freeze again—not on my watch.
Carmen
My heart achedas I listened to Tyler’s words from behind the closed door. I couldn’t trust him again, yet his sweet words pulled at me, making my body ache for him even more. My belly throbbed with pain from my heat, and I wanted nothing more than to have an alpha's knot inside of me.
Especially Tyler’s knot, but he despised me.
Desperate to escape, I fumbled with the cold window screen, my fingers burning from the freezing metal.
The door suddenly burst open. I turned, taking a deep breath, and saw Tyler standing there, his eyes blazing with fury and desire.
“I don’t want you,” I yelled. “I got over you a long time ago.”
