“Alright, head back to the car. I’m going to feed and then put him in his truck.”

“Okay,” she says before walking away, humming. Clearly, she’s feeling better.

I turn back to a smiling Jamieson. Stepping back into his space, I whisper against his lips.

“You’re going to enjoy this one.”

I sank my fangs into his neck, and he moans. Taking deep pulls of his A positive blood, his moans grow louder. I drink until I feel his body shudder with his orgasm.

The older a vampire gets, the better they are at controlling their feeding, making it pleasurable for both parties. Marley doesn’t know this yet, and I’m in no rush to teach her.

Once I’m done feeding, I run my tongue over my puncture wound and Marley’s healing them instantly.

After placing Jamieson safely into his truck, Marley and I head back toward pack lands.

“I love this song,” Marley says, turning the volume up on the R&B song playing on the radio.

I look over at her and smile as she sings off key with the female singer. This is what I loved. This is why I fought my parents so hard to get custody of her. Marley has always been my second chance.

I’d done so much evil in my time, that when she came into this world, it was like the gods were gifting me salvation. They gave me a chance to do right. I would not pass it up.

“Sing with me,” Marley shouts over to me.

I chuckle as I join in on the song. We cruise along the dark country road. We’re nearly five minutes away from the turn that leads us back to pack lands when my car makes an odd knocking noise.

“Shit,” I curse as I feel the car stalling.

“What’s happening?” Marley asks.

Pulling the car over to the side of the road, I cut it off.

“Stay here,” I warn as I climb out and make my way over to the hood. As soon as I lift the top, white smoke bellows out.

“Well, that doesn’t look good.”

I turn to glare at Marley.

“Didn’t I tell you to stay inside?”

She shrugs. “I thought you might need help.”

“Oh really?” I ask, folding my arms over my chest. “And what are you going to….” The words die on my tongue as the scent drifts through the air.

I’ve been living with wolves for a month and a half now, although their stench has become familiar, I know it. This scent that I’m smelling is not from Chayton’s pack.

“I want you to make your way back to the car slowly.”

Marley’s eyes widen. She knows something is off.

“Is it—” I hold up a hand.

“Go,” I shout as a snarl rips through the air.

I turn around in time to spot a large gray wolf charging at me.

My cuffs vibrate against my wrist, but before I can free the blades, a huge black wolf leaps in my path. The black wolf tackles the gray one.

Without even questioning it, I know who the black wolf belongs to. The snarling in front of me has my attention glued. Gray wolf rolls on top of the black wolf, but it’s no match for the massive size of the black wolf. The Beta tosses the gray wolf through the air, and it lands on its back. He then rolls to his feet and snarls at the gray wolf. The gray wolf shakes its head, but climbs to its feet.
