I hesitate.

Should I ask the question that I’ve been holding back on for weeks?

“Has Laurent told you what happened to Vinnie?” I hug my knees to my chest.

The two men exchange a devilish glance.

Maybe I shouldn’t have asked.

When Feral crosses his strong arms, the material stretches dangerously thin across his shoulders; I’d better make a custom size large enough to fit his muscles. “W-what happened? Vinnie’s gang happened to him.”

Fair.

“At least Dad is locked safely in the Alpha Center,” I say.

“Permanently,” Feral snarls.

River struggles across his sea of plushies to clamber into the nest.

He sits behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder. “Okay, bella?”

“Happy that everybody who escaped the Underworld won’t be hunted. We’re truly free.”

I thought that I’d feel something about Dad’s sentence.

Distress, since he’s my Dad? Ecstatic happiness? Triumph that we won?

The files that Lionzio brought with him were enough evidence, combined with what Laurent and I managed to bring on the thumb drive to have Dad immediately held in the Alpha Center, along with anyone else who stood with him.

Lionzio was given an exemption from prosecution because he was a witness and handed in the evidence. We brokered a deal that explained everyone else was there as a victim and not a perpetrator.

I rub my finger over my bare wrist.

I expected a steel Rej bracelet to be immediately slapped onto me because of my rebelliousness.

Except, Laurent has been coaching me on how to act in public, and I simply think that the Government don’t know what to do with me.

There has simply never been a Head Omega before.

But times are changing.

We are going tomakethem change.

Feral closes the fridge, crawling to join us on the nest.

“Hey,” River laughingly protests, as Feral picks both River and then me up in one of his arms and settles us on each of his strong legs.

His lap is large enough for both of us.

River and I squirm around to get comfortable, linking our hands across Feral.

“Will you take up Rom’s offer to teach in her new MMA academy?” River glances between both Feral and me.

“I haven’t decided. It’s hard having so many choices.” I play with River’s fingers, while I work out how to word it. “Hard but amazing. Actually, she asked me to come on as co-owner. I’d like to inspire more Omegas to sign on for the self-defense classes inparticular. They need to know how to protect themselves. How to fight back.”

“You’d be brilliant, bella.” River noses along Feral’s jaw. “What about you?”

To my surprise, Feral immediately shakes his head.
