My heart warms.

They’re lucky to have been raised by an Alpha like Harbinger.

My brow furrows. “How does Vinnie come into this?”

“Your parents’ original debt.” Laurent’s voice is flat. “He stalked you like he stalked me, right? He must have been looking out for the best fighter that he could find to help him become Champion. Then he bought up your debt to hold over you.”

“See? I love a smart Omega.” Harbinger kisses Laurent. “But you left out the part where he also threatened to kidnap Bliss as a prize (like he did you), if I didn’t agree to fight.”

Laurent’s eyes flash. “Alphahole.”

When the door slides closed behind Harbinger, I drop to my knees and sob.

“We’re getting him back.” Laurent is shaking.

“W-we are,” Feral replies.

But what will be left of Harbinger when we do?

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Heir’s Suite, Battle House, The Alpha Underworld

Anxious, I lie awake in the darkness.

I can’t sleep.

I’ve had insomnia for the last five nights, since I woke up after my heat.

How can I sleep, when one of my Alphas is missing from my bed?

When I can feel Harbinger’s agony every night?

I wince, as another whiplash of pain slashes through the bond.

What the hell is happening to Harbinger?

I hiss at another strike of pain.

I hate that Harbinger is hurting like this. Yet I’m glad that I can suffer alongside him because it’s what tells me that he’s still alive.

I could kiss the bond for that alone.

But the pain…the anguish…
