“We’re here to help someone, remember?”
“Right.I’m good.Just nervous about possibly meeting his daughter.”
“You’ll be fine.”
I wish I could believe that.My stomach is about to drop out of my ass.
I’m nearly out of the passenger side when Big Daddy comes out to greet us.
“Thanks for coming,” he tells Cecilia, and pulls me into his side to greet me with a quick kiss.“Few things to know.Don’t ask personal questions. You can make small talk about the weather, girly shit, food, but don’t ask about her bruises or the marks on her arms.Daisy is a sex trafficking victim looking for a fresh start, and I’m trying to help her find it.”
My heart melts at his words. This big and tough, scary biker has a sweet spot.
“Come on inside. She’s upstairs in one of the guest rooms.”He laces his fingers with mine.“Give you the tour later.”
The three of us enter his massive home and the inside is even bigger than the outside eludes to.There’s a motorcycle inside the entrance of his house.I’m so out of my element.I grew up really poor and have struggled as an adult to survive on my own.
I swallow hard as I try to take it all in and not let his wealth intimidate me.
A younger girl with blonde hair who reminds me a lot of Lucie as a teenager runs past us waving a pack of cigarettes as a burly-looking biker with gray hair and long beard struggles to catch her.
“Get back here, girl,” Big Daddy shouts.
The girl darts back, a sneer ready on her face as she stares at me, holding her father’s hand. Not only does she favor Lucie, she has her attitude as well.
“Want you to meet Gwynee.”
“Why?”she says, snottily, as the older biker snatches the cigarettes from her grip.
“Don’t start your shit.Act like you have some fucking manners.”
“Hi.”She shoots a fake smile at me.“Can I go now?”
“Yeah. You can give me your phone and go to your damn room. You can have it back when you show some damn respect.”
She pulls a pink glitter phone case from her back pocket and hands it over to him.“Whatever.”
He shakes his head as she stomps up the stairs.Seconds later, the sound of a door slamming elsewhere echoes above us.
“She’ll come around,” he grumbles, and I can tell he doesn’t believe his words any more than I do.
Up that same set of stairs, he shows Cecilia and I to a bedroom where we meet Daisy. He wasn’t lying. She’s in rough shape and has lost her bloom.
“This is my woman, Gwynee. The one I was telling you about and her friend Cecilia. They’ll take care of you.”Hearing Big Daddy refer to me as his woman has my heart hammering in my chest.
I can hear Cecilia warning me that I fall too hard and fast every time I meet a man, but there’s something different about my biker. He lets me know where I stand. He’s upfront about who he is.I can’t help but fall a little deeper in love with him.
He pulls me off to the side.“Shoot me a text if you need anything and tell your friend I’ll pay for her services.I’ll be back in a bit.Got a brat who needs a fucking lecture.”
“Go easy on her.I’m sure she’s only insecure about sharing your attention.”
“Naw.She’s a little bitch.Let her spend too much time under Lucie’s bad influence.I tried with her, but hell she was already a teenage hellcat when I took her in full time.I had no business raising them in this club, but I did my best.”
“She’ll come around.Everyone loves me eventually.”
He flashes me a grin and kisses my forehead and I turn my attention to Daisy.
Cecilia is running down a list of options with her.
