Silver laughs, and a single tear slips free, scalding a line of salty liquid down her pale cheek. As she sniffles again, she teases, “They do say there’s a fine line between love and hate.”

I chuckle deeply, grinning at my girl, and ask, “So, on what side of the line are you standing?”

It’s meant as a joke, only a teasing comment, and I certainly don’t expect an answer. But I receive one anyway, and my heart fucking bursts with elation when she quietly confesses, “Pretty sure I love you, too, even though you’re an asshole. Don’t even know when that happened, but you managed it anyway.”

I’m damn near vibrating with a childish giddiness, my body thrumming with happiness and love for this girl, and I act before I think. I’m dragging her into a soul-stealing kiss that scars my insides for the better, kissing her like she’s my lifeline. She kisses me back with all of the same enthusiasm before pulling back and muttering, “You better not turn into an insufferable ass for being the first one I said the big L word to. I’ll never live it down from Aero.”

Laughter bursts from me in an explosion that makes her snicker, and I bundle her closer as my hips jerk into her while trying to get comfy. I’m still hard, she’s still wet, and we both groan when I sink deeper into her body that I thought I could get.

A little breathless, I tell her, “I’ll be as insufferable as you let me get away with, princess.”

She laughs before rolling her hips, and I decide to keep her exactly where she is a little while longer before driving her home and being forced to share her withourpack.

Silver is already asleep in the passenger seat by the time I pull up to the house. Not that I’m surprised. She’s been on her feet for hours performing for a crowd of rowdy people, had an altercation with an alpha, got her brains fucked out in a parking lot, and came more than I gave any omega credit for before we decided to go home. It’s late, the sky dark with specks of stars glittered throughout, and Silver was lagging before we even rolled out of the parking lot.

Careful to be quiet, I leave the car and round the trunk to the passenger side, opening the door and delicately scooping Silver from her seat after releasing her seatbelt.

Silver groans before dropping her head to my shoulder, falling straight back to sleep as I carry her carefully to the house. Kicking the front door shut as soon as I cross the threshold, I hear voices coming from the living room and, instead of taking Silver to bed like I originally planned, I veer toward the living room.

Conversation stops as soon as I come into view with a snoozing Silver in my arms, and Aero is out of his seat and rushing toward me before I even step into the living room fully. “Shit, is she okay?”

I snort. “She’s fine. I tired her out is all.”

It takes a moment for him to understand, and it’s comical when my insinuation hits the mark. Aero grins widely before pulling both me and Silver into a hug, pressing a kiss to her forehead gently enough that she doesn’t wake, and he says, “About time, bro.”

Shaking my head, I push him away playfully before stepping into the living room, claiming a seat beside the twins. The moment I’m seated, Silver shifts and rolls, and I hold my hands out as the little omega shuffles around until she’s comfortably sprawled across all three of our laps. Her head is pressed into my stomach, her ass is in Haze’s lap, and Rage is already hugging her legs to his chest with a content purr.

For the first time in a really long time, I finally feel like I’m home. I feel like I have a family again, one made for me and one that I won’t ever let go of.

While a movie plays on the TV, I run my hands through Silver’s hair, releasing the funny little buns she tied her pale-and-pastel locks into for her show. I almost miss it when Aero asks, “So, now that she’s forgiven the miserable bastard, when is it too soon to bring up bonds and shit?”

Haze snorts, rubbing a hand over Silver’s ass and smiling when she pushes her body further into his hold, and says, “I’ll sink my teeth into her the moment she gives me the go ahead.”

Rage grunts in agreement, and Pace nods. “Let’s leave that one down to her. She already knows I’m willing when she’s ready. We’ll just wait for her to set the pace there.”

A pang of envy pierces my chest with the reminder that I won’t be able to give Silver a bond, too, but then Pace’s gaze collides with mine, a knowing look in his eyes.

“Just say the word and I’ll do the same for you and Aero. Might not be the same kind of bond, but at least you’ll be able to feel her, too, right? We’ll be a fully formed pack. If that’s not what you want, then no one will judge. You’re still pack. Still family.”

I nod gratefully and, based on the lack of surprise from Aero, I assume they’ve already discussed bonds and such already. “I’ll take you up on it when she’s ready.”

And just like that, we all settle in to watch a late-night movie while our omega sleeps soundly, the atmosphere homey and chill and everything I’ve wanted and more. That is, until Pace mentions, “I spoke to Meemaw, at the charity ball. When Munro and Silver were dancing.”

“Yeah? What was that about?” Rage wonders, rubbing his hand up and down Silver’s bare leg.

Pace sighs, and rolls his head over the couch to look at Silver before he confesses, “Was asking for permission to bond Silver. I knew that’s where this was heading then, and I didn’t want to do anything without Meemaw’s approval. I know it would mean a lot to Silver that we asked, so we spoke for a little while.”

“Tell me she said yes,” Aero pleads, and I feel my heart tighten with worry that she might not have.

Pace nods and that tightness disappears. “She did. Said we were exactly what Silver needed. But she mentioned something else.”

He pauses, and I feel like I’m waiting on pins before he says, “Cynthia isn’t going to stop trying to push Silver into being the perfect omega. She won’t stop forcing packs on her, accosting her at every event she shows up to, and won’t stop trying to control Silver’s life. Meemaw thinks we should do something to make sure she backs off, and I agree. I want to go talk to her face to face and warn her to stay away from Silver.”

The room falls silent at that as we all think about it before I mumble, “I agree. I mean, anything to make sure Silver has a calm, peaceful life that is hers and hers alone.”

Aero feels the same, because he’s quick to say, “I’ll go with you.”
