Sadly for me, I’ve also discovered that omegas can go all fucking night, because no sooner have I found relief, I’m sporting another raging boner and listening to the sounds of the pair of insatiable omegas getting their jollies until all falls quiet and they pass out into sex-induced comas. All the while, I’m wide awake and restless, constantly thinking of Silver, my thoughts running on a loop until I fall into a restless sleep that does nothing to make me feel rested.
If I didn’t love Aero so much I’d fucking hate the bastard’s guts.
“You could try talking to her,” the smug, little prick quips, and I have to clench my fists to keep them where they are. I’ll land myself back in the doghouse with Silver, and I’ve only just escaped it. Not that it feels like it, because we’ve barely seen her since she agreed to forgive us.
While she was showering after the first time they spent the entire damned knight filling the house with their filthy sex sounds, Aero came downstairs reeking of sex and sugar, declaring, “So, she’s willing to give us all another chance. Let’s not blow it, yeah? I’m really liking having a girlfriend.” That was a week ago, and I still feel like I’m on her shit list despite being reassured every morning that I’m not. It would be more believable if it came from the omega I want and not the jackass internally gloating that he finally got her.
As it was, we’ve barely seen her all week. She’s either in school, holed up in her studio working on assignments, working at Raverz, or getting her brains fucked until they’re scrambled and she passes out. The only time we’ve seen her has been in passing, where she offers a smile before she disappears with a plate of food, or a drink, or whatever the hell else has her venturing through the rest of the house very briefly.
Glaring at Aero, I snap, “How are we meant to do that when you’re stealing all her time and fucking her brainless before we can have a single conversation with her?”
In his defense, Aero tries to mute the smile that almost breaks free. It’s the only reason he doesn't get a right hook that’s gearing to go. I’m so tightly wound that it won’t take but one wrong word before I start swinging and apologizing later.
“Is this you sweetly asking me to back off a little?” Aero wonders genuinely, even though there’s a teasing quality to his words. “Want me to give you guys some time with her once she’s back from shopping with Juno?”
“Yes,” Haze and I answer at the same time, forcing Aero to bite his lip to stop himself from smiling again.
Gods above, he’s testing my already limited supply of patience.
Holding his hands out in surrender, he finally confesses, “Okay, okay. I’ve been greedy, I’m sorry. She’s all yours as soon as she’s home.”
That finally happens two hours later.
Haze, Aero, and I are all lounging in the living room, a movie playing on the projector. Although, I can’t say I’ve been lounging at all. I’ve been as stiff as a board, waiting on pins for Silver’s return home. As for the movie? I couldn’t even tell you the title. I don’t know what the fuck is currently playing, nor do I give a shit when the front door finally opens and a bogged-down omega steps through the doorway with her arms loaded with countless bags and her messy bun unravelling as it slopes to the left.
Like the desperate idiot I’m starting to feel like, I’m out of my seat and rushing toward Silver before it’s even a cemented thought in my mind. I’m taking bags off her hands and unloading her tiny frame before the door is even shut behind her, and I receive a blinding grin for my efforts. It’s like the sun beaming at me, full and vibrant, and lacking any kind of animosity. It’s enough proof for me that she really is giving us another shot, wiping the slate clean and somewhat starting over.
Just like that, every irritant, frustration, and annoyance disappears in the next breath, that smile doing wonders to elevate my mood. I can barely remember what I was annoyed about, that smile filling every dark corner of my mind.
“My hero,” Silver snickers, brushing her wild hair from her face. “I’m convinced I was going to be taken out by a rogue shopping bag on the walk from the car to here. I just didn’t want to do a double trip. I also didn’t realize just how much I bought, but hey, therapy is important, right?”
My lips are twitching with a suppressed smile, but I nod anyway. “Retail therapy is probably the most expensive one there is.”
She points at me like I get it. “And that’s why it’s the best.”
I hear my brother and Aero laugh from the living room, and for the first time since I saw that tear fall from her face two weeks ago, I feel like things aren’t out of place. Everything around me seems to settle, the atmosphere switching in an instant with only a few words spoken from the omega I’ve been obsessing over.
Clearing my throat in an attempt to shake the bone-jarring relief that tries to take me out, I ask, “Where do you want these, Sunshine?”
That smile morphs into something sweeter, her entire face softening as her smile warms along with her eyes. A simple, little nickname, and the omega practically turns into a puddle, but I’ll be fucked six ways to Sunday if I don’t make a mental note of the reaction and swear to call her Sunshine any chance I get.
I’m so distracted by her that I almost miss it when she gently instructs, “Nest, please. I’m following right behind you with the rest.”
“I’ve got it,” my brother declares, damn near vaulting over the couch in his hurry to reach us and help. I can’t very well snicker at him with a mocking tone, either, because I’m pretty sure I just witnessed exactly how I looked when I ran over to help.
Silver grins once more. “Huh. Two heroes. I love that for me.”
Aero laughs as he steps toward her instead of the bags now being collected by my brother, and he wastes no time cupping her face gently and drawing her into a kiss that has her sighing as though she just entered the gates of heaven. I remember why I was so pissed now, and I find myself glaring at the back of Aero’s head like I wished it would blow up before checking myself.
Blinking my gaze away, my eyes connect with Haze, finding him doing exactly the same thing. I roll my eyes at him, and he finally smiles, likely feeling as ridiculous as me.
“Missed you,” Aero quietly confesses, and I can hear the truth in his words. Although it’s beyond frustrating having him occupy most of Silver’s free time, it’s obvious to anyone with eyes how attached he’s grown to the omega. Aero is never too far to where Silver might be, the clinger sticking close as though he’s afraid she’ll suddenly ditch him.
He clearly doesn’t see the way she reacts any time he’s near. With just one kiss, it’s like every stress of the day that had her body wound tight melts away, leaving a noodle-like omega in its place. I’d do anything to trade places with Aero, offering her that kind of relief and comfort.
Moreso when Silver smiles an adorably-sweet smile and whispers back, “Missed you, too. What did you get up to while I was gone?”
Aero drops one more kiss to her lips like he can’t help himself. Only when he’s got his fill does he pull back and answer, “Just busting the twins’ balls. Apparently, I’ve been monopolizing your time. I’ve been not-so-gently reminded that I have to share.”
