“None of your fucking business.”

I want it to be my business, though. For some reason, I want to know.

“Now drive. We have an appointment with the Phantoms and you know Mick doesn’t like when people are late.”

“Yeah, I’ll let him know you squealed like a little girl because of a spider. So I had to pull over and put it outside.”

“You’ll fucking not.”

I don’t do it. I wish I could, but as much as I hate Luca, I don’t want to make him look weak in front of a motorcycle gang’s boss. That would just be stupid. It could put us both in danger. And with the mood his men say he’s in today, I have good reason not to press my luck. He’s one of the more dangerous bosses around, and I know he wouldn’t hesitate to put us in an early grave, even if it meant starting a war with us.

“Never seen this girl, but I’ll pass it around,” Mick says loudly, standing behind his desk, Luca next to him as I walk into the room. He’s a big man, with a long graying beard and a scar on his face. It’s said that it came from his brother, who was upset about him fucking his wife, but I’m not sure of the truth about that. Not that it matters.

I just want to finish business here and move on to the next destination.

Mick’s eyes meet mine as I step closer to the two of them, showing him the gun at my side. Mick’s lips twitch slightly at the sight of me.

“Ah, look, you brought the little slut with you.”

Before I can even respond, Luca’s gun is out, pressed under Mick’s chin, a knife to the side of his throat. The man standing sentry in the corner of the room quickly lifts his gun and points it at Luca, and so I do the same to him. Tension vibrates through the room, knocking off walls and making my chest heave.

“Say that again and I’ll gut you,” Luca growls, his voice tinged with anger.

Mick swallows, his eyes narrowing. “Didn’t know you had a difference of opinion.”

Luca presses the weapons into Mick harder before pulling them away and stalking over to me. He sheathes his knife and his hand comes up to wrap around the back of my head, pulling me forward, his mouth slanting over mine. And what ensues is the filthiest kiss I’ve ever had.

Open mouths, tongues, spit and clashing teeth. It’s drawn out so long that when he finally pulls away, I’m speechless and dazed, the room tilting slightly, my gun hanging limply at my side.

“He’smyslut. Now keep your shitty thoughts to yourself.”

That shuts everyone up. Mick tilts his head slightly in acknowledgment, and I make it through that meeting with an open mouth and a foggy brain. I don’t contribute anything at all. It’s all I can do to keep my gun in my hand.

He kissed me and called me his slut. In front of people.

What the hell is that about? What’s his game?

I can’t get my mind off it as Mick looks at the toxicology report Luca shows him and explains that the substances found in that dead woman are all indicative of a new drug on the market, one being distributed by an unknown seller.

“Ask around and let me know if you find out anything. I want to make sure no one is selling this shit on my turf,” Mick says.

Luca nods and shakes his hand, the two of us leaving side by side. As we do, Luca pulls out a cigarette, and I light it automatically without a word. I can’t stop peeking over at him, my eyes flitting to his lips.

Fucking hate the way they automatically draw my gaze.

“Shut that filthy mouth. That kiss meant nothing,” he says when I stare at him a little too long.

I snap my lips closed and glower at him. “I didn’t think it did. It sucked, by the way. Was the shittiest kiss I’ve ever had.”

“Your cock thinks otherwise.”

He glances down at it, and I shift away from him as we walk to the tinted black SUV.

“My cock has nothing to do with you.”

He gives me a smug grin. “Keep telling yourself that.”

I do. I keep telling myself that, despite my dick not listening. I’m on the verge of an orgasm as we drive to the club owned by the Sirens. It’s thirty miles away, but it takes us over an hour and a half to get there in traffic. By the time we arrive, I’m vibrating with pent-up aggression and lust, and my stomach is rumbling from hunger.
