Who am I kidding? He was. He was created for this.

“Viktor,” I moan as he rides me, looking beautiful above me, his head thrown back, his fingers curling into my skin, making everything zing with pleasure. I’m alight. Everything centers around him, my focus on the way he moves, the way he sounds.

He’s perfect. Everything about him. The broken, cracked parts of him, the pieces fitting seamlessly into all of mine.

He falls on top of me, our bodies satiated, completely at peace. The flames have receded, the smoke evaporated. He’s here with me, his strong heartbeat, the warmth of his skin. In a way, he heals a fragile part of me, holding it together in his hands.

With a fist, he could reduce me to rubble.

My eyes close as I inhale him.

I don’t sleep, just lie there, drifting in and out, my mind moving from the past to the present, and more importantly, to the future.

The phone rings, pulling us from our slumber. Luca’s arm reaches out, fumbling for his phone, and I do the same, grabbing it before he can. We peer at the screen, seeing Anthony’s name there.

Luca swipes at it and puts it on speaker, my head coming to rest once more on his chest.

“Hey,” Luca says, sleep still prevalent in his voice.

“Diablo found him,” Anthony says curtly.

“Well, that’s a stretch,” we hear Lex pipe up in the background. “We did ittogether.”

Anthony pauses for a long moment and then sighs. “DiabloandLex found him. And after speaking with Declan, he confirmed it. A man who looks a lot like Henry was recently kicked out of his casino and Declan’s been trailing him. Apparently, he hurt his partner, Blake, and Declan isn’t happy about it.”

“Oh, fucking Henry,” I murmur, and Luca’s hand moves to my back, rubbing it gently.

“We’ll head out this morning,” Luca says. “Send me the address and tell Declan to expect us.”

“I will. But first, let me tell you what DiabloandLex found with the banking info you gave us.”

“Shoot.”

“Go ahead, Lex. Tell them.”

“Well, hello, you sex fiends,” Lex begins and then I hear some clacking on his computer. “Well, let me start out by saying that banking information was very helpful. Henry Porter is a twenty-four-year-old male born and raised in Idaho. He moved down here when he was a teen. Parents are dead. Died in a homicide, and with what I know of Henry, he could have been the one to do that, but I have no evidence. Just know he is capable of murder.”

He clacks on his keys. “Hm, what else could be of use? Ah yes, he owned an illegal ant farm that was confiscated at one point, but that isn’t really relevant…oh!”

He clacks some more and adds, “He was nominated at his high school as most likely to charm an older woman and was very good at chemistry. Went to a couple years of college for it. So it makes sense that he’s the one possibly producing these drugs. And seeing as he’s charming, he probably was able to seduce the Sirens into working with him.”

“Is that all?” I ask when Lex says nothing else.

“Sorry, was eating another donut. Teddy is trying to fatten me up. Um, one other thing. He did a stint in juvenile hall for six months for arson. Burned down someone’s shed. Just watch out for him. He’s a wild card.”

“We will.”

Anthony’s voice filters over the phone. “You got all that?”

“Yeah, it helps to know who we’re trying to find.”

“Hopefully Declan has some useful information and we can put this to rest once and for all.”

“Agreed.”
