“We’ll be there,” they say and the phone hangs up.
I walk out to where Luca is. He’s dragged the body inside and is now making himself a cup of coffee.
“Want one?”
“Yeah.”
He hands me a mug and leans against the counter, the two of us still naked, but neither in a hurry to get dressed.
As I sip from the hot liquid, Luca stares down at his phone.
“Shit,” he murmurs as it starts to ring.
“What? Who is it?”
His eyes meet mine and his cheeks flush. “My aunt. Just give me a minute.”
He puts it up to his ear, and I watch as his face softens.
The same aunt who took him in, I assume. She must be special to him.
“Yeah, I’m okay,” he says into the phone. “Had a busy night. And I have company. Can I call you back?”
He listens to something she says and his eyes roll. “No, you can’t speak to him.”
I hear the faint murmur of a voice on the other line, and Luca sighs. “Fine. But two minutes and no more.”
He holds the phone out to me and I can’t help but take a step forward, taking it from him and placing it at my ear.
“Hello,” I hear her say. “I’m Luca’s aunt, Lyla. It’s so nice to meet you, Viktor.”
“Nice to meet you, too.”
My gaze meets Luca’s, and he arches an eyebrow at me.
“Tell me everything about you.”
“Everything?” I ask and I hear her hum.
“Yes, as much as you’d like to tell me. Luca is smitten with you and I want to know about the man who’s captured his heart.”
My cheeks flush and I blink over at Luca, who looks annoyed at the intrusion.
“Yeah, um, I don’t know about that.”
“Oh child, I can hear it in his voice when he speaks about you. Now go on, tell me something. Anything.”
“He said two minutes.”
“Oh, he’s not the boss of me. We can chat as long as we want.”
My mouth twitches and I can’t help but let out a small laugh. “Yeah, okay. What do you want to know?”
“Shit,” Luca murmurs and reaches for the phone, but I twist out of his way, moving to the bedroom to pull on some clothes. I won’t be speaking to her while naked.
And Luca doesn’t fight me on it either. Lyla and I end up chatting until Luca tells me the twins are here. She’s easy to talk to. I can see why Luca found some healing while in her care.
When I hang up, with a promise to chat again, I hand him his phone and he scowls at me, playful and still slightly annoyed.
