And after all that, I would repay her by killing her father. But I had to show I was in control of this family. I had to strike back. There could be no other way.

“Hey.” She giggled as she twirled toward me. “You’re home.”

“Sorry I missed dinner.” I reached for her and guided her to me. Taking her chin in between my fingers, I pressed my lips to hers, kissing her slowly and savoring this moment.

She ran her hands along my biceps before resting them on my shoulders to steady herself.

“I missed you,” I said.

“Good.” She smiled. “Next time, don’t be late.”

“Did you eat?”

“Ricardo served me an amazing salad topped with grilled shrimp. He made his mother’s Italian dressing from scratch. It was delicious.”

As much as I couldn’t forgive Ricardo for putting her in danger when he allowed her to leave that day, I did appreciate their friendship. She would need him when her father was gone. He would have to provide her the comfort I wouldn’t be able to because I was going to be the one to cause her that pain.

“Where is he now?” I asked.

“He left for the night, so I decided to make brownies.” She took my hand and led me into the kitchen. “I only got like two pieces of eggshell in the batter, but I was able to get them out.”

“You’re improving.” I removed my jacket and tossed it over the stool at the center island. “I’m impressed.”

“You have a lot on your mind.” She undid my tie and slipped it from my neck, then placed it on top of my jacket. “I can see the stress in your face.”

“It was a busy day.” I stroked her hair. “Nothing that I need to concern you with.”

“Maybe I can relieve some of that stress.” She unbuttoned my shirt, kissing my neck as her fingers moved to each button.

“What about the brownies?” I reached into my waistband and removed my gun.

“They will still be here when we’re done.”

As she trailed her hand down my abs, I set the gun on the counter. She pressed her soft, warm lips along my stomach, driving me insane, but when she reached for my belt, I grabbed her wrist and held her still before she could drop to her knees.

She looked up at me through the hair that had fallen in her eyes, licked her lips, and smirked. “My mouth is empty. Don’t you want to fill it?”

I definitely wanted to shove my cock down her throat and let her take away all of my aggravation and stress, but first things first. I tightened my hold on her wrist as I pulled her back to her feet, trapping her between me and the counter.

“Brownies and a blowjob?” I asked.

“What’s wrong with that?” She leaned into me, challenging me with her eyes. “Isn’t that a good thing?”

“A very good thing.” I kissed her with enough force, I stole her breath. “But why don’t you just tell me what it is you’re plotting this time? And I suggest you hold nothing back, because you won’t like the lesson I have to teach if you lie to me.”

Why isMarchello always on to me? Am I that obvious?I needed to absolve myself for going to my father behind his back. Brownies and sex seemed like a great start.

He didn’t agree.

“Well?” Marchello released me from his strong hold. “Are you going to tell me what you’re up to this time?”

“Why do I have to be up to anything?” I inched closer to him. “Why can’t I just want to be with you? Do something nice for you?”

When I pushed his shirt from his shoulders and slipped it down his back, his gaze softened.
