I cup her face, my thumbs stroking over her cheekbones. "Madison Callahan, I love you too. More than I ever thought possible."
A brilliant smile breaks over her face, and she surges up to kiss me, pouring all her love and joy into it. I return the kiss with equal enthusiasm, pulling her tight against me.
When we finally break apart, we're both breathless and grinning like idiots. I rest my forehead against hers, savoring the moment.
"We really should get back out there," Madison says reluctantly.
I nod, stepping back and straightening my shirt. "You go first. I'll follow in a minute."
She gives me one last quick kiss before slipping out the door, leaving me alone in the office. I take a moment to compose myself, my heart still racing.
I've never been happier in my life. I have the woman I love by my side, and we're building a future together. It's everything I never knew I wanted.
With a deep breath, I open the door and head back out to the party, ready to face whatever comes next with Madison at my side.
EPILOGUE - MADISON
[Two Years Later]
Two years have passed since I first arrived at Heartwood Lakefront Resort, unsure of my future and the path I would take. Now, as I stand on the sprawling deck overlooking the majestic mountains, I can't help but smile at how far we've come.
The resort is thriving, bustling with activity as guests enjoy the breathtaking scenery and luxurious amenities. The once rundown cabins have been renovated, their rustic charm blending seamlessly with modern comforts. The hiking trails are well-maintained, guiding adventurers through the picturesque landscape.
I feel a strong arm wrap around my waist and lean into Archer's embrace. My husband's presence never fails to bring me comfort and joy. "Look at what we've built together," he murmurs, his voice filled with pride.
I nod, placing my hand over his as it rests on my giant belly. "It's more than I ever could have imagined," I whisper, emotion welling in my throat. "Grandma would be so proud."
Archer presses a tender kiss to my temple. "She is proud, Maddie. I know she's watching over us, smiling at the love and dedication we've poured into this place."
I turn in his arms, gazing into his piercing blue eyes that still make my heart skip a beat. "And soon, we'll have a little one to share it all with," I say, my voice filled with anticipation.
Archer's hand gently caresses my belly, a smile tugging at his lips. "I can't wait to meet our baby, to show them the beauty of this place and the love that surrounds us. Come on, let's go and get you some food. You must be starving."
As Archer helps me waddle into the resort's bustling restaurant, I can't help but chuckle at my awkward gait. "I feel like a penguin," I mutter, but Archer just grins, his hand gently supporting the small of my back.
"The most beautiful penguin I've ever seen," he whispers, and I swat his arm playfully.
We settle into the kitchen's chef table, and I let out a contented sigh as the weight is taken off my feet. Archer leans over to Logan and Penny, who are already eyeing us with anticipation. "Alright, you two, I need you to whip up something special for my heavily pregnant wife here."
Logan raises an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "You got it, boss. One 'heavily pregnant lady' special, coming right up."
Penny rolls her eyes, tying her apron strings more forcefully than necessary. "I think what Logan means is that we'll be happy to make something nutritious and delicious for Madison."
As the chefs set to work, their bickering fills the kitchen. Logan reaches for a spatula, but Penny snatches it out of his hand. "I need that," she huffs, and Logan throws up his hands in exasperation.
"Well, excuse me, your highness. I didn't realize you had a monopoly on all the kitchen utensils."
I can't help but giggle at their antics, and Archer leans in close, his breath tickling my ear. "Do you think those two will ever get along?" he asks, amusement lacing his tone.
I turn to him, a knowing smile on my face. "Oh, I think they like each other more than they let on. They just haven't figured it out yet."
Archer chuckles, shaking his head. "Well, as long as they keep cooking delicious meals, I suppose we can tolerate a little kitchen drama."
As if on cue, Logan and Penny appear at our table, each holding a steaming plate of food. "One 'heavily pregnant lady' special," Logan announces, setting down a colorful array of roasted vegetables, tender chicken, and fragrant herbs.
"And one 'nutritious and delicious' meal for the expectant mother," Penny adds, placing a similar plate in front of me with a warm smile.
"Thank you both so much," I say, my mouth already watering at the sight of the delectable dishes before me. "This looks incredible."
