We’re so close. I’m so close, and then it happens. The first sound of retaliation rips through the air.

She found me!

Chapter 67

Dash

“Your skin is turning blue.” Titan pokes me.“Breathe.”

I glance at the cockpit door, wishing it was Damian flying with Anders and not our backup pilot.“I need them to go faster.”

“You need to rest. We still have hours left on the flight. Once we get there, you’ll wish you slept so you can have the energy to talk.” Titan stands and grabs a pillow from the empty seat, thrusting it into my hands.“Just try to close your eyes.”

“Fine.” I smack the pillow down on the seat, rolling my back to him. If it makes him stop hovering, I’ll pretend.

It was only hours ago when my phone rang. I didn’t answer the call; why would I? The number was unknown, from somewhere in England. At first, I let it go to my messages. Then I listened. My world stopped, and then it started to spin so fast that I was struggling to hold on.

What was Mila doing in England? I knew she wasn’t safe because she wasn’t by my side.

In the end, I failed to find her. She found me.

That had to be good, right? Does this mean she forgives me?

It’s worse knowing where she is but being unable to run to her. I’m stuck on a plane as it slowly glides through the sky, trying to close the distance.

Titan stands, phone in hand, as he walks to the cockpit with a stern stride. Cillian was closest to Mila’s location, so he rushed to her side. Was it a stroke of luck that this happened when he was visiting his brother back home, only a few hours away, or was it planned?

I sit up, cradling my head in my hands.

“That’s not resting,” Titan says as he comes to sit next to me.

“I can’t.”

“I know,” he exhales.“We’re diverting the plane.”

“What!”

“Cillian called. He was ambushed, and as a precaution, we are changing our flight path.”

No! No! No!“Is she okay?”

Titan nods, but it’s too slow, as if he’s a coin tossed in the air, unsure which side he should land on.“They were in the middle of a gunfight.” He confesses,“Cillian will call me once they get to safety.”

I stand and pace the aisle.“No! I need to get there now!” I grab my hair. Fuck!

“She’s with Cillian, Dash. He won’t let anything happen to her.” Titan stands, blocking my path. He grabs me, pushing me into the seat.“I want to talk to you about something.”

“Now isn’t a good time.” I spit.

“It concerns you and Mila.” He kicks his legs out, making sure I can’t walk away,“Have you thought about what you will say and do?”

Every second I think.

“I mean, really considered it,” Titan stresses.“I have.” He reaches out and touches my knee.“I want to offer you something, Dash.”

“We don’t even know if Cillian and her are alive.”

“I can’t afford to think like that.” Titan’s eyes dig into me, trying to pull me from the flood waters surrounding my mind.
