I drop my aim and fire. Right into his kneecap.

He screams like a little bitch.

Good.

Because he isn’t my kill. He’s Charlotte’s. And she’s coming.

Chapter 99

CHARLOTTE

Song- Just Pretend, Bad Omens

As a red faced Conan rushes over to me, a mixture of relief and disappointment washes over me.

“Where is he?” I ask, desperately needing the answer.

“Dealing with Vlad. Let me get you out.”

He jogs over to the shelving and starts throwing objects across the floor, returning with a machete.

“Careful with that,” I warn him and he frowns.

He gets to work on the other side of the beam, cutting at the ropes until I finally feel relief.

I look down at the burns all over my skin through the open cuts of my jacket.

“Help Drago. Please.”

Conan’s eyes go wide as he really takes in the scene before us.

“Is he?”

I shake my head. Drago can’t be, I won’t believe it.

“Save him, Conan,” I almost sob, my legs trembling beneath me.

Conan thrusts a pistol into my numb hands.

“Go to my brother. Finn will be here any minute, he will fix him up good.” His deep voice is full of sincerity and I almost believe him.

But as I glance over and see the blood and the color draining from Drago by the minute, I don’t know.

My eyes snap to Conan as a gunshot rings out from the other room.

“Go!” he bellows, and I run through the pain.

Even on weak legs, I run to him as blind panic consumes me.

As I hear the cries of Vlad, I come to a halt at the door, and a smile creeps up on my lips when Declan twists his head.

Those eyes.

Nothing else matters.

They tell me everything I’ll ever need to know.

I am safe. I am loved. I am worthy.
