I sit and watch it burn.
There’s no business left, nothing left for him to save. It’s all gone. Their diggers can move in, their designs can remain the same.
The only question will be, what happened?
But that’s irrelevant to me. My insurance provides minimal coverage for the building's contents. I needed tosecure liability insurance in case of injury, and when I had to choose between the two options. The second had won out.
“Miss?”
I snap out of my haze and look up.
“Miss?” he says again.
“Yes, sorry,” I say, trying to stand until he holds out his hand in protest. I drop back onto the edge of the vehicle.
“Do you have any idea what happened?”
I shake my head. “No, I woke up, and the room was full of smoke.”
“You were sleeping here?”
“I own the dance school. I must have nodded off. I was doing paperwork,” I say. “It’s been a long week.”
My rental agreement was a commercial one, but I wasn’t bringing in enough money to pay for a separate room, especially in the beginning. When the showers were installed, adding a sofa bed to the office seemed like the perfect solution. I was onsite for security to ensure no one tried to break in.
He doesn’t argue.
A heavy feeling settles in my stomach. Did someone break in, and I didn’t hear them? How did the fire start?
“Any ideas about how the fire started?” I ask as he goes to move away.
“Not yet, but there will be afullinvestigation,” he says.
I’m unsure whether it’s just me, but his tone is accusing. Not surprising. A building burns, and I’m the only human around.
A police officer appears behind him.
“Hi, Miss?” he asks.
“April Wilson,” I say.
“Flash mob lady?”
I give him a weak smile. “That would be my students, yes.”
He nods before pulling out his notebook. “If I can just take some details…”
CHAPTER 19
CALEB
The exquisite sensation of my cock being engulfed by warm and skilful lips.
A talented tongue expertly teases and explores the sensitive underside, before moving to my slit.
I moan, lowering my hands and gripping hair as my hips thrust off the mattress.
An incessant buzzing pulls me out of the moment and from my dream.
