Page 46 of Wrong Idea

“Harrison,” Harry mimicked Carver’s deep voice. “You have, haven’t you? You still have some more of those little cameras out and about? Watching her? Following her?”

“You’re an idiot. The resort has cameras,” he reminded his brother.

“Hmm, but it’s convenient the ones in the laundry room are only connected to the app on your phone or laptop.”

He’s still been watching me! While I worked? This whole voyeuristic thing couldn’t be sexual. There was nothing sexy about how hot and muggy the laundry room got.

“You’re an idiot.”

“I’m not the one riding around on the bus late at night in the back, waiting around to make sure she gets home safe, am I?” Carver had been doing that? How the hell had I missed that?

“Fine. Okay, I might have been watching and following her. I just…” Car’s sigh sounded, and I stroked the door.

“You told her you would give her space.”

“And I am. I’m giving her as much as I can handle, okay? Jesus,” he huffed. I could imagine the way he ran his fingers through his hair. “Look, I have two meetings coming up, and I gotta go check out how O’Shea is coming along in that building, so if we can hurry along whatever the hell you—“ His voice cut off, and I waited.

“What it is, is that this is your surprise. Your meetings are cancelled. Stan and I are going to take care of talking to O’Shea. You have the rest of the day off. Actually, if I’m being honest, I had Miss Bell clear your schedule, and you are off until Monday,” Harrison shared.

“A four-day weekend? For what?”

“Do you trust me?”

“Fuck no!” Carver exclaimed. The sound of Harrison’s laughter rang through the room.

“You suck,” Harry mumbled playfully.

“I suck?” You could hear the frustration in Car’s voice. “Harrison, what the fuck is going on.”

“Just… relax, okay? And honestly, man, consider yourself a lucky son of a bitch, okay?” A moment later, the door opened and shut. Not a minute later, my phone pinged with a text telling me it was all clear.

I stepped out, and Carver’s head whipped to the bathroom door. “What the—“ His voice cracked, and there was a sharp inhale. I chewed on my lower lip. It was time.

“Max.” My name sounded rough from his lips. Those beautiful blue eyes I had been dreaming about since he walked out of the very room we were back in roamed up and down my body, almost like he couldn’t believe I was actually there.

“Baby…” He licked his lips as it slowly dawned on him what I was up to. “Is it really you?” I could see the dark circles under his eyes and the disheveled way his dark locks sat on top of his head.

His dress shirt was wrinkled, something I had a feeling he never would have allowed under regular circumstances. It was a light blue color that somehow made his eyes stand out even more while it broke laws of physics as it stretched across his broad chest. Even disheveled and obviously sleep deprived, he looked good. Too damn good.Go to him!a voice in my head shouted, but I had to play it cool. He wasn’t wrong last time. We did have a lot to talk about and square away.

“I’ve been thinking,” I said, leaning against the doorframe. His brows bunched.

“Max—“ I pushed off the doorway and felt my breasts bounce beneath the deep red lacy bra and matching panty set I’d bought just for this occasion. “Shit,” he hissed as I pulled the plush robeI had tossed on while I waited in the bathroom off my shoulders, letting it fall to the ground at my black-heeled feet.

“Princess.” He stepped forward, but I shook my head.

“No.” I stood my ground. “Stay there,” I ordered softly. “We’re going to talk, and you’re going to tell me the truth, all of it. And depending on what you say… we will go from there.”

“Okay,” he agreed, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. His eyes left mine and moved to the door before moving back his attention on me. Almost like he was trying to calculate if I tried to run, would he be able to get me before I got there? As crazy as it sounded, I found him cute. Adorable, really. I had no plans of leaving. Not today and not tomorrow. We had the next four days all to ourselves. All we had to do was get over this hurdle.

“You really didn’t know I worked here when you gave me my massage?” I asked, walking around the room. Not too far but careful not to get too close to him. I knew Daddy, and he would only be able to keep his hands to himself for so long. Who was I kidding? I was keeping my distance for my own selfish needs.

“I didn’t. I didn’t have a damn clue, baby.”

“And when you found out?”

“You mentioned how you had heard things about me.” He grimaced. “I wanted you to get to know me. For the man I am with you.” That was fair.

“Are there more cameras?”
