“May’s been heavily traumatised and abused, sexually as well as physically. Worse, I think Vampire was abusing April’s corpse in front of her,” I replied.

Chance paled. Yeah, as a father that had to kick home.

“Girl got parents?” Chance asked.

“No idea, Prez. You need to figure that out. I’m going to give my statement and head back to the clubhouse. We need to get everything left out of here and store it before it’s tarnished forever in Willow’s memory. Burn that bedroom furniture andall Willow’s clothes. Vampire was dressing April and May up in them to rape them,” I explained.

“Fuck me,” Sunny muttered.

“Can we get someone to Jinx? Kid’s out of his depth,” I said.

“Diesel, Chatter, go,” Chance said, and they disappeared. “You need anything?”

“I’m fine, Prez. Just need my woman to relax. We gotta find Willow’s stalker, and we’re done and dusted. Apache’s breaking ground next week on our home. Life’s good.”

“You need anything, shout,” Chance replied.

“Will do.”

Slowly, I walked back to Lio and Gold, who were in charge. I just wanted to go home.

Chapter Twenty.

Willow

Trust Fanatic to go to collect something and waltz into a dangerous situation with an unhinged maniac. I couldn’t leave work to check on him, as my case was taking off. I did call in, and he assured me he was fine and to carry on.

Another box had been delivered to the Bureau containing a rat with a kid’s police badge stabbed in it. It was definitely a message, and we were pretty damn sure Juan Ramos was behind it. I had one team out chasing an armed robbery gang who had held up two banks so far. A second team was looking into a sighting of a couple of random Venomous Fangs.

Despite the amount of them who’d died, many had fled, and they were public enemy number one in South Dakota and Florida. Part of my department’s task was to hunt them down and arrest them. I was sending two agents out to track a tip that might lead to the apprehension of some gang members. Gangs weren’t too big in our neighbourhood, but they existed, and we liked to cull their actions before they got their feet under the table.

“Hey, can you take a look at this?” Jimenez inquired, entering my office.

I looked up as he handed a phone to me.

“What is it?” I asked, taking it.

“Worrell and Quirk were about to talk to our tipster, but they waited for a few moments. They watched this suspect enter the house. Is that Juan Ramos?”

I studied the image carefully. He was older, more heavily set, and his hair was greying. But the next picture showed his face, and I hissed in a breath.

I’d never forget how this bastard stood over my brother and put a bullet in his head. Grey had caused a distraction, which allowed me to escape and warn Rage the cartel was coming. But this man had killed Keith. Yeah, Keith had betrayed me and my role, but he’d still been my brother.

“That’s Juan Ramos,” I confirmed.

“Good job that Quirk and Worrell followed him back to his hotel. We have his address,” Jimenez said.

“Put surveillance on him. We don’t move until we know who Juan’s meeting with and what allies he has here,” I replied.

“Willow, we might lose him.”

“No. He’s here for me and revenge. We need to find the reason why. Why now? It’s been years since Demonio fell. Something triggered Juan into making his move.”

“That’s a good point. Who do you want on this?”

I gave Jimenez my orders and sat back.

Juan had raised his head. He wasn’t stupid enough to have slipped up and been seen in public. Which meant his appearance had been planned. No doubt Juan had guessed that we were onto him and had given us a teaser.
