A section broke off and raced back the way they’d come.

“How many do you reckon fell?” he asked Adam.

“About thirty, some are still alive. I’m wondering if they’ll return for their injured,” Adam answered.

James watched intently as the enemy stopped out of range of weapons.

“What do you think?” Onyx asked.

“They’re gonna come back,” James replied.

“They just lost about thirty men, they’ll run,” Adam argued.

“Nah. They are either too scared of Fury or too loyal, they’ll come again,” James stated.

Minutes ticked by as they watched.

Men began moving around, and James nodded his head. He knew it. They were going to attack and try a pronged method. It would fail because of the pincer they’d set up. They couldn’t get around it, they had to walk through it.

“Told you,” James announced, and Adam sent him a glare. James smirked.

Onyx barked out some orders to his team as James gave his own.

“This is taking candy from a baby. I feel a bit mean,” James replied.

He grinned at Onyx and felt himself blown backwards. He and Onyx landed hard as they looked at where their container had been.

“Adam!” James screamed, not seeing his bodyguard anywhere.

Bells rang in his ears as he shoved a sheet of metal off him.

Nigel hadn’t been lying about a missile launcher. Those fuckers must have hidden someone behind the first line of attackers. James staggered to his feet and shouted for Adam again. Venom appeared from out of the smoke and bent down and checked Onyx.

As James stumbled forward, Venom ripped a piece of metal from Onyx’s shoulder.

“Pirate!” he yelled as Pirate ran towards them with a medical bag.

James looked at the burning container, searching for Adam. He saw movement and rushed ahead, shoving away the dizziness.

Pulling metal and debris away, James discovered Adam. Adam lay with his leg trapped under a sheet, and as James dragged him out, he nearly gagged. Adam’s leg had been sliced through. James immediately pulled his belt off and tied a tourniquet.

“I’m here, phone for an ambo,” Pirate cried, appearing.

He began wrapping Adam’s open wound in a bandage to keep it clean as James gazed at the man he’d learned to call brother.

“Call me an ambulance!” Pirate yelled, and James jolted.

“Nigel, two injured. Need immediate assistance. One’s a possible…”

“James?” Nigel called.

“Amputation. Adam needs a surgeon immediately, or he’s going to lose his leg,” James replied.

“Ambulance station alerted and given priority, someone’s on their way,” Nigel responded and cut the call.

Anger welled deep in James’s stomach. Fuckin’ Fangs, fuck Fury.

“Kill them all!” James roared.
