He chased after Manny, and a minute later, Manny returned.
Fangs rounded a parked car, and Drake shouted a warning.
Spike was directly in their line of fire, and even as Rage attacked, the Fangs shot at Spike. A body crashed into him, and Spike hit the ground hard and was rolled away. The Fangs fell, and Drake crab crawled over.
Gideon lay on his back, breathing heavily as Spike berated his grandson.
“You don’t die for me, boy! I die for you!” Spike was yelling.
Drake heard a great deal of fear in his voice and checked Gideon over even as Spike kept yelling.
“He’s taken two to his back. We gotta get him out of here, Spike,” Drake said.
“He gonna live?” Spike demanded.
“Yeah, but he took a butt shot and won’t sit down for a while. The other lodged in his shoulder. Gideon’s going to be okay,” Drake replied as he and Spike dragged Gideon behind a wall.
“Gunner, come get him,” Drake ordered.
Gunner appeared and hauled Gideon over his shoulder and disappeared.
“Am I needed?” Klutz yelled.
“No. He’ll survive!” Drake called back.
“There’s about twenty Fangs left,” Grey said, popping up.
Drake eyed his prospect, the only one who was here. He’d managed to force all the others to stay away, but Grey had disobeyed him. Willow had stayed with the Feds, so Grey had remained too.
“Can we get them?” Drake asked, and Grey smirked.
“They’ll never see us coming, and we’ll get behind them,” Grey replied.
“Take Jett, Apache, Texas, Rock, Volcano, and Lowrider and circle them,” Drake demanded.
Grey nodded and crept away. He gathered the brothers, and Drake watched them go.
“Hit them with everything you’ve got for a minute,” Drake ordered those left.
Rage opened fire, and the Fangs retaliated. They were so intent on hitting those in front of them that Grey’s plan worked.
“Stop firing!” Rock bellowed, and Rage put up their guns. “We got them all!”
“Nice!” Drake exclaimed. He slid down to rest against a car and leaned his head back. Serenity sat next to him but kept her distance. Drake knew better than to touch her while she was like this.
“No offence, Dad? You stink,” she stated, and Drake began to laugh.
“Kid, you ain’t too sweet yourself,” Drake commented.
“That’s rather rude,” Serenity replied.
“Will you go home now?” Drake asked.
“There’s cleanup to do,” Serenity drawled with a wicked gleam in her eye.
“You know, girl, I pity your husband,” Drake teased.
“Who said I’m having one?” Serenity got up to grab a bottle of water. “He’s gonna be my bitch.”
