“I’m fine,” she said, her tone softening. “But you sound… off. Are you sure you’re alright?”

I glanced at the door, my mind still replaying the moment on the balcony.

“I’m… figuring things out,” I admitted. “But I’m safe. That’s what matters.”

“Okay. Just… be careful, Amelia. And call me if you need anything,” Sienna sighed.

“I will,” I promised. “Thanks, Sienna.”

As I lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling, I couldn’t help but wonder what might have happened if the phone hadn’t rung.

Exhaustion finally began to tug at me, and I closed my eyes, hoping for a few hours of peace.

In my dream, I was standing in a dark, unfamiliar room and I could feel someone watching me. I turned, my heart pounding, and there he was—a man with cold, empty eyes and a cruel smile.

“You can’t escape me, Amelia,” he said, his voice low and menacing.

I tried to run, but my feet were rooted to the ground. He moved closer, his hands reaching for my throat. I struggled, clawing at his arms, but his grip was like iron.

“You’re mine,” he hissed, his face inches from mine. “You’ve always been mine.”

I gasped for air, my vision blurring as his fingers tightened.

“Let go of me!” I screamed as I jolted up from the bed.

The door flew open, and Finn rushed in, his eyes wild with concern.

“Amelia!” he said, crossing the room in two strides. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

Finn

Chapter FourteenFinn’s POV“Amelia!” I crossed the room in two strides, my voice sharp with worry. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

She trembled, gasping for breath, clutching the sheets as if they anchored her. I sat beside her, reaching out, but she flinched, eyes scanning the room in fear.

“Finn…” she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. “There was… a man. He was here. He tried to… he tried to strangle me. It felt so real.”

Her words hit me hard. I pulled her close, her trembling body cold against mine, driven by the need to protect her.

“Shh, it’s okay,” I murmured, my voice low and steady. “It was just a dream, Amelia. You’re safe. I’m here. Nothing’s going to hurt you.”

She buried her face in my chest, her hands clutching at my shirt.

“It felt so real, Finn. I could feel his hands on me. I couldn’t breathe…”

I tightened my hold on her, my jaw clenching. The thought of anyone hurting her, even in a dream, made my blood boil.

“It’s over now. You’re safe. I’m not going to let anything happen to you.”

She nodded against my chest, still trembling. Her heart raced; her breaths uneven. I stroked her back, trying to soothe her.

“Finn…” she whispered after a moment, her voice small and fragile. “Don’t go. Please. Stay with me.”

I pulled back slightly, meeting her wide, pleading eyes, their vulnerability piercing my chest.

“I’m not going anywhere,” I said firmly. “I’ll stay right here.”
